Sometimes it can work, sometimes not. The Expendables is exactly the sort of time that it doesn't work though, because the whole point of it is 80s ultra violence nostalgia.
Terminator is a series that I think lost nothing in the PG-13 transition, but Salvation itself was just a poor movie regardless of the rating. The original Terminator film wasn't even terribly violent and was mostly rated R for the language and the sex scene. I would actually call Salvation more violent than the original, and the only thing in the second more violent was the nuclear dream sequence. It's possible to do a good PG-13 Terminator film.
hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! great joke, man!
I loved the part about XStation U and the motorsaw penguins saving santa claus in the middle of summer vacations, so funny!!!!
I didn't understand what was the joke

I still can't believe there still making these types of movies.
At least in this one manboobs slapping all around was funny as hell. Transformers 4 is where I still can't believe there is audience for this kind of crap.
Me too. With Seagal the Hutt as a villain it could've be better, but the Hutt as Expandable would be mindblowing. Instead they've got a guy who was desprate to get anywhere (and he acted like no craps given).
@Dave24 Don't get me started on transformers 4, that movie was just terrible.I could not sit there and watch the whole movie, i wanted too leave so bad but i couldn't.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
The joke will be how big the box office will be for this, as has been for the recent Transformers, that got terrible reviews.
As someone who actually follows box office, no. The second one experienced a slight drop from the first, but the third is looking to have a massive drop. It's looking to open at about $16mil this weekend, and probably finish under $50mil in America. That would make it a box office flop (unless it pulls huge overseas numbers, which I doubt), and 60% drop from the last one.
As for Transformers, it is by far the lowest grossing of the series in America and only made so much money because it continues to be popular overseas, especially China. These sorts of movies tend to be more popular overseas because they're dumb. Not that overseas audiences are dumb, it's just that in non-English speaking countries, a movie that doesn't have a lot of subtext or cultural value to get lost in translation tends to perform better. It's a movie about giant robots punching other giant robots. You don't need to know anything about western culture to "get" it.
Well, that is good and refreshing to hear. I have friends who thought Transformers 4 was not a bad movie, so it makes me feel bad for mankind to have these dumb movies being popular and earning a lot of money.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
