Eh, I guess if it's good for Wal-Mart then that's all well but I've learned long ago that trade-ins are hardly worth it. Getting store credit from the trade-ins is even worse. I'll just keep selling my games on eBay and Amazon if I really need them to go.
So here is the price for trade in comparison between Wal-mart and Gamestop. Keep in mind this is for store credit since Wal-mart only pays out in store credit.

If anyone listens to Pat Contri's (aka Pat the NES Punk) podcast, he raised an excellent point — if Wal*Mart is indeed allowing store credit received to go towards anything in the store (I don't know if they have confirmed this detail or not), this has the potential to seriously impact GameStop's used game business. I mean if you can trade in a few games and use the credit towards anything from games to tvs to dvds to whatever else they sell in the store (aka EVERYTHING), I think a lot of people will be more motivated to trade-in at Wal*Mart.
If I take advantage of Gamestop's deals (like the 30% towards a new game), I can get a lot more than this. I plan to buy games this year, so this is still a good investment
I usually buy games that I intend on keeping. If anything I give doubles of games as gifts or sell them on eBay/Amazon. So selling them stuff doesn't affect me, but I DO buy used games occasionally, so if they've got good prices on titles I want, I may go and do just that.

I won't beat around the bush; I absolutely despise Walmart. While I'm not fond of some of Gamestop's practices, they're by far the lesser of two evils.
Wal-Mart has better prices for buying games, but that also means they will charge more for them. I also wonder what restrictions there will be, I get the feeling they won't take a cross-gen PS3/PS2 game. So GameStop will still get older games.

I could not disagree more. I always buy physical copies of games whenever possible.
Why? The reason is simple. Consoles have a finite lifespan. Systems aren't supported forever. Digital-only means you essentially have a giant egg timer sitting on top of your console in regards to how long it'll be useful.
