The posts here usually aren't very unpleasant. Oftentimes, though, this community likes to joke around and/or be sarcastic, which can be pretty overwhelming for a new user. Basically, if not everybody is interested in your topic (ie. the swimming thread), then there are going to be people that make fun of it, sadly.

It's been months since I registered any posts as "unpleasant". It used to be that I couldn't go a day without running into one, though. Not always on this site, but at least one of the sites I go to. Nowadays, things go quite smoothly for weeks on end.
