Due to the absurd amount of "what games should I buy?" thread, I decided to start a universal thread where anyone can recommend games they like, and ask the age-old question "what game should I buy?".
I know other people have tried this before, I tried hard to find their threads, but I simply cannot find them buried under a mountain of other threads(hence why we need a search tool).
EDIT: I've changed the topic to include everything and anything . We're talking more than just games here. We have plenty of game recommendation threads.
If I wanted to try Earthworm Jim, should I download the MegaDrive version available on the VC, or order the SNES version from eBay? If I went with the MegaDrive game, I would be able to play that one bonus stage; but not in the SNES version, as far as I looked up. What version would you recommend?

From all accounts, you should go with the VC's Mega Drive version. Not only does it have that extra stage, but it has slightly better music and effects. Plus, it's cheaper(I think. Without shipping it is, at least).
And I have to say, while I am a fan of Final Fantasy, even I won't be getting FF13. That game just looks awful.X(
I see some immaturity in this thread, but I'll not name the two behind it. And Machu never ceases to make me smile.
@Mic - they're all good games, but I'd recommend R-Type III for the challenge and Super Castlevania IV for the neat 16-bit Castlevania experience. But, the choice is up to you.
DS, FF4 or BiS, might get both eventually but for now what would you recommend.
I'd recommend Bowser's Inside Story(if that's what you meant ). FF4 is bound to come out on the VC soon, and the GBA version is dirt cheap these days. Of course, once the VC version comes out, the price of the DS version is sure to go down as well. Might as well get BiS now while you can still find it, and get a deal on FF4 later.

Yeah, I was leaning toward R-Type III, but I might get R-Type Delta on PSN if nothing good comes out Thursday. I think I'll wait until Bloodlines comes out before I get SCV4. So, unless Castlevania Rebirth comes out tomorrow, I'll get R-Type III and Ghost 'n' Goblins. Thanks!

This is a very good idea. It's too bad moderaters/admins can't sticky squat in threads, even in helpful threads like this..
Yeah, I know, we really need sticky threads, especially for important threads, and threads that are liable to be repeated. I'll try to keep this one alive as long as I can(with everyone else's help, hopefully).
Contact(DS) - I haven't played this one as much as I should, but so far it's been pretty good. Got a lot of customization, a Final Fantasy 2-style stats and leveling systems, and gameplay and combat reminicent of old-school PC RPGs. The story is pretty charming and quirky, although I was rather disappointed that the Main character doesn't have much personality, nor does he ever interact with you(the game's "hook" is that it's a big fourth-wall breaker, yet it never really capitalizes on it when it should).
I recommend DoReMi Fantasy and Kirby's Dream Land 3 on the VC. Two of the best platformers of all time!!
I've been meaning to get DoReMi Fantasy for the longest time, but the relatively high price point keeps putting me off, unfortunately. Sad, really, since it looks incredibly good, too. I'm sure I'll get it someday.
Which RPG should I play? Just name anything, and I'll play it(and if I don't have it, I'll find a way). I know I'll regret this, but really, I'm just that bored.
