A few of my favorite games ever are some of the most hated games out there, & I just don't see why.
Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World - Sure Emil is a wimp, but play through the 1st hour or 2 of the game & he starts to grow on you. I'm not saying the game is perfect, I do wish the main characters from the 1st game lvld up too & you could equip them as well, but overall, the game was very good. Seems people hate that game because it wasn't just an exact copy Tales of Symphonia with updated graphics.
Doom 64 - This game was my favorite N64 game ever. I played this more then Super Mario 64 or Zelda OoT. Probably the only game that got played more was Goldeneye's multiplayer. The graphics where awsome, the atmosphere really drew you in (I don't know how many times the smallest noise in the real world made me jump while playing this game)
Castlevania 64 - I admit this game has some issues, number 1 for me is you really can't control the camera, which can make platforming very frustrating. But if you can figure out how to manipulate the camera to give you the best angle, the game was very good. Not the greatest ever, but not as bad as people make it.
Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest - I was floored when this game was announced to be released on the VC & people where bashing it as a horrible game. Most people referrance the AVGN's review when talking about the game. I watched that review & realized 1 thing, the AVGN is a crappy player. Most of his complaints, he'd find simple solutions to if he'd actually try to play the game instead of trying to be funny buy cussing every 2 seconds.
Because we can't have an "Overrated Games" thread without an "Underrated Games" thread. Mr. Nutz, for one thing. Arcana doesn't get enough credit. Kirby's Dream Land 3 is underrated. Zelda 2 is much great. Ys 3 is underappreciated. And more...
I'm really, really starting to think Starboy may have been in the development team behind Mr Nutz considering how many times he brings that game up.

Nah, I think he just has a fascination for old obscure games.

I would have to say recently Spyborgs. While not perfect it was fun to play. And if you have a friend to play the game with its a good time killer. Farthest thing from my favorite game but its still good in my book.
I really do like obscure titles so much. Some titles I like the most are ones people may not have likely heard about; like Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands! for the Game Boy. And I try my best not being annoying when mentioning certain titles; but if mentioning certain titles is starting to get annoying, then I'm sorry.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets fo the Game Boy Color. it's a really solid RPG plus the first i ever played so it has a special place in my heart.

Ohhh, I've played the GBC version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone before, and it was great! Far better than that rubbish PS1 game.

Was that also a RPG?
Also the Watchmen downloadable games were not as back as people saw. I might be biased since watchmen is my favorite graphic novel, but its a little good beat em' up.

Sonic '06 is underrated. People focus on the glitches and voice acting, completely ignoring the complex storyline and clever plot twists. There are two parts to a video game: the first is the technical aspect, and the second is the creative. The drones who make up Nintendo's fan base have a history of honing all their aggression on the former. There is no point in arguing with them about it, they're too dumb to listen.
Scheherazade and Tombs & Treasures are games for the NES that completely missed the radar. I always loved those games. And TMNT III: Manhattan Project was a blast as well.
