Three games that get WAY WAY too much hate.
Final Fantasy mystic quest. it's not that easy you just need to stop grinding to level 1000 when playing rpgs
New super mario brothers 2. getting ALL the star coins and moon coins is pretty tough and the coin gimmick makes the game feel unique.
Have you EVER seen a mario game do that before this game? no.
Twilight princess wolf link alone makes this game not "oot 2.0" that makes no sense how can it be oot 2.0 if it has an element oot doesn't?
that's like calling wind waker oot 2.0 because if you take out the boat then it plays just like oot does.

Kingdom Hearts: Re: Chain of Memories (generally looked down upon, but probably the most solid game in terms of gameplay, combat, and originality)
Super Paper Mario (too many people criticise it for not being an RPG when it's one of the best Mario platformers to exist)
Kirby's Epic Yarn (even if you couldn't die, he challenges were difficult, and the transformations were extremely fun)

Sonic Heroes was decent, but the controls and physics were rather poor. The Emeralds are almost impossible to collect just because of how hard it is to control your characters in that tunnel, not to mention falling off of the ceiling and taking 15 years to land. The music was good as always, but it wasn't great.

Twilight Princess is great. I can understand people calling it Ocarina of Time 2.0, but what's the problem with that? If that's the best game ever, what's wrong with taking that and improving upon it?

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at earlier. It shows a lot obvious signs of being rushed. Especially when you get to the Shadow Campaign on. Lackluster levels with quite a bit of copy pasting and later levels having lots of technical and design issues.

That was a big problem at the time with Sega they kept rushing Sonic games a very dark period for the company in my opinion.

Oh yeah. That game was awesome. Except for the Space and Egyptian boss. They can go jump off a cliff

@Mikky

The game got too much flak for its controls, specially with some reviewers and gamers not willing to take the learning curve. Again, very similar to W101.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires, Dark Void, 007 Blood Stone, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Lair (not a great game by any means, but definitely not as bad as it's made out to, I liked it overall), Mount & Blade: Warband, Lord of the Rings: Conquest, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery (DS). Was that list big enough for you?

Milons Secret Castle (Great game - lots of people lack the patience for it though).

Commando : Steel Disaster (It is a better game than Metal Slug 7 - probably slightly worse than Contra IV but it is a solid Metal Slug clone).

Didn't AVGN tore that game apart or something?

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was a tragedy. It was exactly what the fans wanted: a New Sly Cooper game that provides all the great stealth/platforming that didn't stray too far from the established formula, but didn't mess with a good thing either.

And every review I read just tore into it for being what it set out to be...seriously, all I ever saw was "It's not new!" "It's not Different" It doesn't Stray from the formula". You mean to tell me after only 3 games and 8+ years since the last one, in a genre that's been largely dormant, nothing about it came off as refreshing? They honestly expected a revolution? Bullcrap.

Sin & Punishment 2: Star Successor (Wii) is one of THE best games I've played, and absolutely no one I talk to has ever played it. It's a Nintendo owned IP too, also published by Nintendo though Treasure developed it.

Also F-Zero GX. Sure, F-Zero fans know how great this game is but most people haven't played it. AND THEY NEED TO. This is hands down one of the best racers of all time, if not THE best...

@CanisWolfred Addmitedly, it was a downgrade from 2&3. Espcially with the costumes replacing the gadgets was a clear downgrade. And then there's the large amount of content in Sly 3 with bounus missions and replaying parts of the missions with special requirements lacking in Thieves in Time. I could write a big list of reasons if you asked me to, but as I said before, I agree that it's underrated.

Is this real? If so, that's hilarious. Not to make fun of other sports but this seems like it couldn't be more than a mini game in warioware. Maybe I'm wrong.

Heh, it is a real game. I use it as a joke for threads like this, but I have to admit that I actually quite enjoy it. It's a pretty good curling sim. I would play it while watching the Winter Olympics. Good times.

Well, the reason that they "reused content" throughout the various storylines, was that they were more like different difficulty settings than different stories.

Sure, they all had mostly unique story cutscenes (from what I remember), but the levels were the same across all 4 character groups, and only were only different in difficulty.

Amy's team = Easy mode - You only played through half a level (I'm assuming the easiest half of it, as well).

Sonic's team = Normal mode - You played through the full levels.

Shadow's team = Hard mode - Full levels like Sonic's, but they're now filled with all sorts of cheap enemies & traps to artificially raise difficulty.

Team Chaotix = Bonus mode - You played through the full levels here to (difficulty the same as Sonic's group), but instead of simply finishing the levels, there was some sort of weird requirement to win in each of them (like look for various hidden collectables that are only in their version of the level, for example).

What I think of these underrated games in terms of score on a 10pt grading scale:
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 8.9/10
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue 8.7/10
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan 8.3/10
Devil May Cry (PS2) 9/10
Sonic Heroes 8.6/10
Shadow the Hedgehog 8.4/10
Pokemon Trading Card Game (GBC) 9.2/10
Pokemon Pinball 8.4/10
Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire 8.6/10

Note: These are my opinions on underrated games that deserve to be a lot more well-known.

ps2 era was the one console gen i almost completely abandoned ninty and let me tell ya.......dmc was huge when it came out. my italian non gamer girlfriend even asked me about it at the time. she had scene a tv ad for it and thought it was realy pretty (her words as i recall) (she was weird) dmc definately wasn't underated at the time. i'm pretty sure that game is part of why capcom let clover do their own thing for at least a little while.
