I have to figure this is staying in the 3DS forum because of that UFO that shows up in Super Mario 3D Land.

The very existence of Disco Kid proves that we are not alone in this universe.

I believe that there is probably other life out there, but I also don't believe in UFO sightings.

If there is a civilization advanced enough to perfect interstellar space travel, I'm sure they'd be advanced enough to observe us, without us being any the wiser.

I mean, how do you explain that UFO crash back in the Late 1940's in New Mexico?

Everyone knows that was Roger (from American Dad!).

But seriously, that was proven long ago to be a weather balloon.

Well proven was nothing. Either one way or another.

Btw if you watch that show on history channel "ancient aliens" with that funny hair guy instead of only posting his memes, you'd know two things:

  • that show makes a boatload of money
  • the things they are discussing, especially in season 1, make - to some point - sense and there are countless unsolved mysteries of our past that could infact point towards the contact with extra terrestrials.

Go and educate yourself about our creation myths and you will find eerie similarities and oddities that could - in fact - best be explained with something "out of this world".

Open mind people, open mind,
don't only listen to what your parents, CNN and you government is telling you!

My belief is that Humanity is so imperfect that no life capable of the necessary technology or lifespan to be able to travel from distant planets outside our galaxy would want to visit us.

Therefore, I don't care.

Ancient Aliens is a very entertaining program that presents some very interesting theories about our origins and presents some interesting coincidences prevalent in many earlier cultures, but you should never make your decisions after only hearing one side of an argument.

So, here's a video debunking much of what is presented in Ancient Aliens if you happen to have the time. Keep an open mind and understand that this is the other side of the argument and if you're anything like me, this really doesn't make Ancient Aliens any less entertaining and is a nice companion to the series.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

I do find some of the things they have on ancient aliens logical but some of it isn't

@Sykotek
I know where you're coming from and I've read/watched and followed ancient aliens, many comparable AND competitive programs, Im picking what sounds logical for me and mold my own opinion out of that. The only thing I really don't like and what I consider "dangerous" is the assumption that everything is just fake. While I completely understand both sides of the coin let me give you an example:

A real, alien UFO lands in my garden. I see it from my window. I see aliens leave the craft, waving at me (it's just an example). I of course are 50% shocked and 50% amazed. Anyways I fire up my iPhone and film all that. I get a perfect scene in perfect quality of the craft in my garden with the aliens standing on my grass waving at me. Excited I post it to the web. There is just one guy that has a grumpy day, looks at this, thinks he sees some adobe after effects stuff in there and posts "FAKE" in the video comment section. Immediately the credibility of that video - even though it shows the pure truth - goes down the drain.

What I want to say is you can take ANY truth and it is judged, labeled "fake" and destroyed within seconds on the internet. Thats why it is important - like you said - to mold your own opinion after having seen different angles of a subject, be it aliens, medicine, politics, etc... thats why information of different sources is so important. Unfortunately - and this isn't directed at anyone on these boards - people jump conclusions and usually are too lazy to look some subject of interest up on the web and read into it a bit, getting different opinions. My personal truth and beliefs comes from years of following what I am interested in. It's a bit like gaming. I've been playing video games for over 20 years now. I've played almost every shooter since Doom and finally came to the conclusion that I like tactical games more instead of someone trying COD for a weekend and then assumes he doesn't or DOES like all other shooters as well.

I write too much. Thanks for hangin' in there that far!

Seems suspect to me that if aliens possessed the technology to visit our planet, the most they've allegedly done is a quick fly-by in the upper atmosphere and abducted the occasional Certifiable Crazy.

I've no doubt that aliens exist - as @Scollurio has pointed out, the sheer number of potentially habitable planets out there would render it considerably less likely that there isn't life out there - but whether they've actually visited us, I'm less inclined to believe that.

UFOs? Alien encounters? Ridiculous. I'm not saying extraterrestrial life doesn't exist, I think that's completely possible, the universe is immense. Still, we are definitely alone in our solar system. Any alien life would have to travel much faster than the speed of light to get to our planet in any realistic amount of time, and I don't believe any livig thing could possibly travel that fast, no matter how much they perfect space travel. As such, it would take at least hundreds if not thousands of years just to get to our planet, and for what? To watch us? We're not that interesting. We have no great technologies to show them, we can't teach them the secret to world peace, we're rapidly consuming any resources they could pillage... Face it, there's no reason for aliens to go so far out of their way to visit us, and it it's just to observe, I'm sure if they can have the technology to reach our planet they also have technology to observe us without coming all the way over here, satellites or something. Anyone who believes aliens with bother wasting time observing us thinks too highly of mankind, we aren't the center of the universe. That being said, I don't believe any life, us or extraterrestrial, could possibly travel the distance in space between solar systems, at least without it being a large expedition spanning generations, at which point it wouldn't be to observe but rather to colonize or pillage for resources.
