pushsquare.com has a great article where the site runner is very frustrated about having to get "Treasures" to unlock all trophies. This actually is starting to find its way to games on all platforms and wanted to know what you guys think about it. Personally I HATE it. The games that I own that have it I pretty much don't even bother with them with the exception of Uncharted and most the main character being a treasure hunter makes you want to find them, not the mention the landscapes are fantastic. What do you guys think? This is starting to become a trend big time and if Nintendo does ever add a Gamer Score to their systems you will see it there more than likely big time as well.

it really depends on what collecting all the treasures would do for me, like in Okami where all the stray beads gets you the best possible weapon evar, or in Lego Star Wars where the red blocks will unlock cheats and the minikits will unlock new vehicles and stuff... i don't like the idea of treasure hunting being a required part of gameplay for anything (i mean face it, sometimes we just want to get through the story), but if it unlocks something awesome, I'm usually down for that.

Yeah for real Im the same way. But such as in Bionic Commando on PS3/360 to unlock one of the big trophies/achievments you have to find collectibles wich are out of the way and if you miss one. Well its back to the beginning of the game for you and thats not cool. Sonic Unleashed has a collecting that causes you to slow way down wich isnt Sonic at all. Its there to make it difficult to achieve all achievments in the game ONLY. That isn't cool at all.

Well not really cause that actaully is part of the game and builds to the story. If you read the article he states in Mario 3d games you collect 120 stars and its fun because your actually doin something for it not just running around finding stars. The start are to reason your playin the game to progress the story. Im talking about adding in collectibles away from the games main story and with no real relevence to the game just to add more play time for the gamer (really boring play time) for some achievment or just really for nothing.
