Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, PC. Heck, anybody, on any system, even Apple's.
What do you think 2009's game of the year is going to be, and why? List your picks for each system and overall if you want, like this:
Wii: Birthday Party Bash! [why I think it's GotY]
DS: Ant Nation [why]
PS3: Uncharted 2 [why]
Overall: Birthday Party Bash, because it comes with 12 free birthday invitations in the box.
BTW, the above is just an example. I'll post my actual picks later.

For DS, it'll probably be BIS.

I truly feel that Starfy is one of the best games ever made, with the best 2D/3D blending visuals, catchy soundtrack, very intuitive play control, and tons of secrets to find and collect. Despite the fact that it's easy, I still rank it as my top favorite DS title ever.

Wii: Ultimate Shooter Collection, because it rules hard.
DS: Retro Game Challenge, because it also rules hard.
XBox360: Raiden IV, it rules harder than any Raiden game before it.
Overall: Fallout 3. it rules so hard that the earth actually will quake if one drops the disc on the ground (dont do try it, you may scratch your disc!)

i dont have a PS3.... sorry

Shouldn't Fallout 3 be your pick for last year?

What is so special about the XBLA version of Raiden IV? I've played it on PS2 well before this, which makes it seem odd for a pick as GotY unless it is significantly different from its predecessor. Unless you're just trying to point out that old games rule, in which case, I approve.

im guessing this:
wii: either wii sports resort [it provides fun to gamers of all kind and has a ton of games packed in 1] or metroid prime trilogy [its metroid for gods sake!]
ds: scribblenauts [sure the controls are bad, but that doesnt take away that its a great, innovative game]
PS3: uncharted 2 [i havent played it but i hear its awesome]
xbox 360: halo 3: ODST [again i havent played it (yet) but i hear its good too]

I'll be doing a GOFY for every console, even thought I only have a Wii and DS:

Nintendo Wii: New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Metroid Prime: Trilogy
Nintendo DS: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Playstation Portable: PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe
Playstation 3: Uncharted 2: Among Theives
Xbox 360: Forza Motorsport 3
Playstation 2: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon?
Mutiplatform: FIFA Soccer '10 (PS3/360)

Wii - Nothing
DS - Nothing, but I'm just gonna guess Legendary Starfy or Mario & Luigi 3 when I get them next year.
Xbox 360 - Did Dead Space come out this Year? No? Then I guess Halo: ODST wins by default.
PSP - What wasn't Game of the Year material? But if I had to pick one, it would be 'Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!: What Did I Do To Deserve This?'
PS2 - Samurai Shodown Anthology(!!!)
XBLA - Garou: Mark of the Wolves
PSN - If you count PSOne Classics, then Final Fantasy 7. Otherwise, Nothing.
PS3 - BlazBlue(I'm playing it in my heart)
PC - Audio Surf(as long as it exists, it's still GOTY in my eyes)

Best Game No One Played: Raiden IV(If only I could find it in a store)

raiden iv isnt on xbla or ps2. it came out on 360 as a disc release like last month or something.... but it did come out in japan in 2007 lol. and i put fallout 3 cause it came out in october 2008, so im down it getting 2009's game of the year award ( it was my pick for 2008s game of the year edition lol). i think since it has dominated so hard this year, and has had grips of successful dlc and is being released now as a Game Of The Year Edition that it should get 2009s award aswell.

but yeah, all of my picks were a joke. should i have just put Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 even though i haven't played it? who asks these kinda of questions before November anyway?

I guess I played Raiden III then?? My bad! I need to play this. Can I borrow your 360 for a little while? I promise to give it back.

Wii: NSMBW or maybe LKS
DS' Scribblenauts
PC: Lord of the Rings Online: Seige of Mirkwood

@adam, you can come over and play it but i don't allow my 360 to move anywhere. it stays in a light/humidity/temperature controlled room that can only be accessed by a underground series of tunnels sealed off by password protected locked doors. Its really just what you have to do these days to prevent the red ring of death.
