After watching the Hyrule Warriors Nintendo direct, I doubt I was the only person to think: 'Oh, you pronounce Skulltula and Cucco like that?' After reading game text and manuals from the 80's and 90's, when games didn't have voice acting or the internet to discuss them, you just assumed certain words were what they were. Ryu was definitely 'Rye-You' when I was young and he's now 'Ree-Yu', and only recently did I find every internet vlogger calls Suikoden 'Soo-Wee-Koden', not 'Soo-Koden' (which I read like the words Suit or Fruit). Some of it's Japanese language, some of it's US/UK pronunciation, so of it's not reading the text and rapidly bashing the A buton to skip the text.
What can I say- My childhood has been tarnished by these corrections. Any other examples you'd like to add?
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
japanese games are good because of that, for some weird cosmic reason these strange names can't be pronounced wrong if your native language is portuguese. XD
but things that were in english would 99% of the times be pronounced wrong! XD
like Banjo Kazooie, I'd pronounce it as Banjo Kazoie(a sound like the "o" in toy)
and Banjo Tooie I'd call Banjo Toy
usually when the name of the games was hard for me to pronounce I'd just make up a name. like Body Harvest I had no idea how to pronounce that so I decided to simply call it the bug game(because it was pretty much about freaky alien bugs)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Ephraim and Eirika from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones.
I'd seriously pronounce their names as (Eff-Rame) instead of (Eff-Rem) and (Ear-Eeka) instead of (Err-ika)
It's not me, but many people say Yosh i, when it is actually Yo Sheee!
I just call 'em “Yossy” or “Washy.”
EDIT: Freakin' Final Fantasy VI. Why did they come up with those awfully esoterically-pronounced names? In my file, Sabin is called Edwin (aren't I clever) and Cyan is Inky, after the Pac-Man ghost. Cyan wouldn't be a problem if it weren't officially supposed to be Cayenne, but that's not flipping the way it's loving spelled it's spelled like the color you buttstupid fluffernutters. Seriously, mess you, Square. Hmph.
I usually do pretty good with pronunciations, but seriously, the ones in FE... Seriously...
I also don't care how they pronounce it in the Direct, I will continue to pronounce "Skulltula" as a mixture of "skull" and "tarantula" because that's honestly how it's probably supposed to be.
Kinda similar to how I refuse to use an accent for "Poke'mon" because it's supposed to be a contraction, even though the Japanese used an accent. (For those unaware, "Poke'mon" is short for "Poketto Monsuta." With roman letters, this is very clearly a contraction, and the accent is actually the wrong one for the way the word it pronounced.)
I also gave up a very long time ago trying to pronounce anything from Final Fantasy because Squaresoft are jerks.
Knowing a touch of Japanese pronunciations is very helpful. It helped get through Ōkami's names. But even then, it's not enough to be able to pronounce every Japanese name, like Fi from Skyward Sword.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.

Sorry, but I will never pronounce Mario "marry-oh". It's "mar-ē-oh".
