it depends, if it's essentials for survival then buying, if it's anything recreational then edit: trying but mostly unsuccessfully selling off/getting rid of items I bought mistakes I've made as a child. Oh well, I guess that's the American way to learn humility. Kid grows up, thinks everything's all right, gets character lesson after lesson. humbly learns his lesson.
