Do you do things to help your town, the earth, or stuff like that? Well, say them here! I've started to do a litter patrol. Can anyone tell me what those sticks with the point at the end that people use to pick up litter and where I can get one?
Good for you, Kxhaoz! I used to do my best to keep this one area near my college campus clean, though I was doing it just as much for myself since I loved going there to read. I also ride my bike to school and work, and occasionally for other things. I'm far from an active environmentalist, not by any stretch, but I do little things often and try to be conscientious in general.
Seriously though if I see litter i pick it up, unless it's skanky, i hate litter so much you lazy ******* humans! And cycling is the future, I ditched my car a while back, whilst it inconveniences me sometimes generally I don't miss it. And anyway it's great exercise and there is nothing like belting along the sea road at 30mph, sticking your middle finger up at cars who show you no respect. Ergh hello, flesh, metal, durgh!
You got rid of your car entirely? Or just don't use it much? I still have my car for practical reasons. I am about to move about an hour and a half from home, and I play music often, so I need to be able to transport lots of equipment. If I could do away with the car entirely, I would be glad to, but there's not much I can do about it now without changing my life drastically.
I moved from a city to a seaside town 3 years ago, and yes, got rid. Admittedly I do get the occasional taxi, in the rain My frustration with humanity grows daily so I'm trying to do my bit, no car, no kids, lol. If everybody did that, we could have a future without global warming and overpopulation (but unfortunately that IS our destiny). I sound so holier than though, ha. Trust me i'm not, I just don't need a car right now, and it's one less bill to worry about.
Haha, if everyone did no cars, no kids, there would be no future, hahaha. At least not for people. It'd probably be best for the planet, except that then there'd be no video games, so we'll have to think of something else.
My goal is to someday not need the car. Unfortunately, relying on a taxi in my little town is not the best idea, so I'll have to arrive at my goal some other way.
@Adam: I don't mean EVERYBODY. Ha! Then we would be screwed! My brother had kids, at which point I breathed a sigh of relief as the responsibility of carrying on the family line evaporated. Phew! We need children, but not at the rate they are popping out. This planet is going to turn into one big urban jungle at this rate.
Xkhaoz, I just searched "litter stick," and this was my first result. Maybe look for other results first before picking this one. Google is your friend, it's not hard to find stuff like this.
I volunteer at my town's library by putting books and DVD's back on shelves. My neatfreak attitude also forces me to straighten up the rows of books and put all series books in order.
Can't Wait for Gran Turismo 5, NSMB Wii, Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank ACIT, and Uncharted 2!
