I think that complete customization over controls is something that has no business not having happened for all games. I can understand a few exceptions with motion and touchpad/screen controls, but otherwise, no. I should be able to change a button's purpose if I want to. If I would rather have something that's at people wouldn't like, but I would find helpful as a controller layout, I should be able to. It's also this way on PC, so why consoles haven't done it is beyond me.

Demo's should be mandatory for every game. Every 2D platform should have very detailed leaderboards.

This. and the ability to customise your Hud layout. From the subtitles and achievements layout and boss health screen. The conduit games on the wii did this. Why didn't anyone else?

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Optional Tutorials should have to be a given, I wouldn't mind if it were a default option, I'm sure there are many players who do need it, as long as I can just axe it. I don't need someone popping out telling me what to do, it somehow ruins the pacing of the game. Also skippable cutscenes or faster texts, especially before boss fights, is a must. Can get annoying at times if you die and have to repeat the segment over and over again.

Lol, I am actually so far opposite on this and maybe it's because I would love to do storyboard for games. But story is overall one of the biggest things that make a game, it gets you hooked. If you didn't have story, bigger games would just be way to repetitive and people would get bored of it. I would like to know what the hell is going on and why I am having this epic sword battle with this guy/girl. Not just, oh hay there is this person kill them.

Yeah, that's one thing the Conduit did absolutely wonderful. They made a mediocre game, but all developers should be taking notes on the control options they allowed. For an example of where it would be nice to have customizable controls. In the Uncharted games I think it I would like to try assigning jump to R2 instead of X so I can navigate the environment a bit smoother. Most people wouldn't like that, but I think I might. It would also make it so games with bad or clunky control layouts can get fixed so it doesn't drag down the game as much. The HUD customization is great idea I didn't think of either. I think it should be more than moving stuff around though, it would be nice to be able to remove cross hairs and stuff it you feel like playing that way.

Yes, it is so annoying when your playing a game for the 4th time and they make you practice basic training moves on dummys.

This. Especially for those who are playing the game on their second, third, even 5th time. Why do I need to go through a movement tutorial every time I start up Halo? Obviously I already know how to move, I already beat the freakin' game!

I love story, but I would like skippable scenes, I don't Wana be playing on the hardest diff and die a lot and have to watch the same thing over and over again, and game company's still do that. I also love to see the ability to pause cutscenes, I got $h ta do lol. I have had times where I think I can stop it and I just skip it and miss the entire beggining of the dam game, or I press any button on accident and I skip another part....like the ending for example.

Imagine if the Conduit had been a launch title; certain elements of the design were innovative and perhaps ahead of their time. The experience was half-baked unfortunately, it seems a lack of polish has been their calling card.

Agreed.. especially on simpler games... for instance of your playing an action RPG again.. I seriously doubt you need to be reminded X is for attack and so on and so on..

Also agreed... I was completely stunned when I think it was W101 was said to have a 10 hour campaign.. and fans from other systems were dogging it.. and then they got a 10 hour campaign to a game they were going to love.. and said that's fine by today's standards.. (Really) I wrote how disappointed I was about that.. and then it was said it was a 12 hour game.. because of two hours of video clips.. ... Yeah thanks but no thanks... that is still a ten hour game.. (Oh yeah and fans of said system said this was fantastic) I go by actual gameplay not story/video clips.. so while fans of said system are going to go out spend 70 dollars for said game.. which is most likely a play only once game... I would still not pay past 20 dollars for that game.(Unless said game has a lot of replay value and I actually want to replay it.. another problem with these games now and days.. it's to many done in one deals). I don't buy 60-70 dollar games to watch them.. I buy them to play... I don't buy 25-30 dollar movies to play them.. I buy them to watch...

Or how in Skyward Sword's hero mode, the game acknowledges that you're playing hero mode and STILL gives you the tutorials like you're playing for the first time.

Blarggs should be a standard. Not enough games have blarggs. They make everything better.

I don't think tutorials or cut scenes should be done away with but ALL of them should have the option to be skipped (including the first play through).
