Topic: The "wow, that's a thing" thread.

I haven't seen a thread like this, so I'll star one off.
This is a thread for adding cool, strange, odd tech, or science type stuff that you've seen on the web. The kind of things that make you think, wow, that's a thing now.
So, here's a start.

This is pretty wow to me.

I just recently found out about this. It's just... wow. Got to admire the level of dedication put into the site, and it was sort of fun to read about the guys escapades, though it got pretty sad really fast.

I didn't realise until recently that the flat earth society is a genuine thing. I'd always assumed it was a kinda joke or parody. But no, it really is a thing. That pleased me.

I dunno, I'd probably want to defend the creationists in that comparison. The evidence of geology and evolutionary biology is at least quite technical and if you don't put a lot of time into researching it, you usually just have to trust the authority of an expert (which is never good). Whereas the evidence that it's simultaneously day and night at different places on earth can be checked by anyone with a phone or the evidence that you can never see the entire earth from the top of a mountain (no matter how clear a day it is) can be checked by anyone with legs.

No Seriously, this place is proof that time travel exists, because y'all apparently just skipped the last 7 years...well, except Squid. He just came back from Mars, where Golf clubs double as urinals...

Well the fact that you'd say "carbon dating the Earth" would seem to prove my point. Carbon dating is only ever used for human history and pre-history. Its half-life makes it completely useless for anything older than that.

Speaking of which, on a scale of 1-10, how bad is it I knew that existed? I didn't own one. Just getting that squared away.

When I found out they were real, I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep laughing or wipe my memory.
