Bought DS. Was messing around with the system settings. Made name using only the letters on the buttons. Have kept it as an online username ever since.

It's named after the Action 52 game Cheetahmen. 1991 was the year the game was released (I was born in '93).

It's amazing what great nomenclatures the fellow users here at NintendoLife have come up with.

Mine is a nickname going back to high school. Originated from a 50 second-long song on They Might Be Giants' album Apollo 18 titled "Spider", which became a kind of "meme" amongst our group of friends except that we would over-accent the "spider!" lyric. I honestly don't recall how it became specifically attached to me -- i think it just somehow fit me well. Has been used both with and without the "the"; i prefer to use the "the" for screen names (plus, i just like the idea of a name staring with "the"). It's also my XBLA tag, and is my screen name pretty much everywhere (except on TheForce.net and StarWars boards, where it's Darth Shpydar, of course).
