Topic: The Soft Drink Discussion Thread

Here's something a bit off topic: let's discuss soda! Put anything related to soda here.
So, lemme ask you: what's your favorite kind? Mine would be Mountain Dew, followed at a close second by IBC Cream Soda and third would be good ol' plain Coca Cola.

I did a search for a topic like this and came up with nothing - however, if this topic already exists, please redirect me to it and I'll be happy to delete the thread.

my current favorite is this stuff here. i'd never seen a diet cream soda in a store ever before i spotted this stuff a couple weeks ago... i don't think i'll ever be able to go without it again. i keep buying Food Lion out of it whenever i see it in stock because it only seems to come in one-liter bottles :3

I like Coca Cola, but only when there's loads of ice in it as it dilutes it a bit and takes away a lot of the fizz (as I don't generally like fizzy drinks).

Yeah, for some reason Coke does taste better with more ice. Of course, this could be due to the Coke Conspiracy of 1985 - when Coca Cola brought back Coke Classic after the disaster that was New Coke, "Coke Classic" was actually a new recipe altogether!

Of course, the ice rule does not apply if you're talking Mexican Coke, which needs no ice to be spectacular.

I like fountain Coca-Cola the most. When I'm lucky, it can be some of the best tasting stuff ever.

i drink loads of cherry coca cola.
i used to be able to get the vanilla and caffine free varieties, but they aren`t sold here in england anymore, which is annoying. although caffine free diet coke is available. but diet cola never tastes right, no matter what company makes it.
hubba bubba soda was lovely, it was a drink based on the hubba bubba bubble gum. this got stopped because of rumours that people were finding tiny pieces of bubble gum in thier drink.

Speaking of fountain Coke, anyone here tried out the new Coke Freestyle machines?

@dizzy_boy Bubblegum in soda?! That sounds wonderful!
Was it already chewed or something? That would be gross.

Okay, it seems this thread has been knighted by a certain dragon lady, so I'll join in.

I recently discovered Limca and have tossed aside my regular Pepsi. I believe it's a native brand that's mainly only popular in Africa, but it's the stuff. Think Sprite with a dash of Schweppes' Bitter Lemon - that's kinda how it tastes.

My mum introduced me to it a week ago, since it's been out of stores since the 90's, but it seems the manufacturers are doing a little rebranding and making a comeback. Must bring back some nation-wide nostalgia too; Limca sells like hotcakes now, and is almost only in stock once a week. It goes that fast.

Aside from this, I've always wanted to know what cream soda tastes like.

Love those things. Although they're not exactly new, heh. Raspberry Coke = win.

Soda makes me feel kinda sick... but I do love to have it every now and then because it's so delicious. Only in small portions though. (It's not good to drink that stuff anyway.) My step-mom told me that it was first sold in very small bottles as a dessert-type drink, so that makes sense to me. Anyway, my beverage of choice is Mr. Pibb (Pibb Xtra). I love it. Also I think I'm one of the few people that prefers Pepsi over Coke. My parents are actually from the city Pepsi was invented in. But that's not why I prefer it. lol

Cream soda tastes like the sweet, sweet nectar of angels.
Now I wish I lived in Nigeria - perhaps I might find some Limca on Amazon.

Coca Cola is my favorite. I used to drink Mountain Dew alot in my teen years but it doesn't do much for me any more.

A burger place just down the street has one of those I love it, if nothing else I go there for a soda. Usually I get Peach Sprite.

@jumbif hubba bubba still makes the bubble gum but the drink they made was suppose to be bubble gum flavoured and was not ment to have actual bits of bubble gum in the drink itself..
i drank hubba bubba soda myself and never found any gum in the drink, so the reason it got pulled from sale was more likely due to it not selling well, but the rumour got out that the drink had the bits of bubble gum in it. if true, it isn`t good for the diggestive system to be clogged up with gum.
also, the two weirdest fizzy drinks i`ve tried have to be fizzy choclate flavoured drink, i can`t remember who made it, but it was nice. and refreshers, this was also based on a candy of the same name.

In my household, we made a decision a while back to attempt to eliminate HFCS intake, so it severely limits the different sodas we consume since most mass market sodas in the US have HFCS because corn is subsidized.
The easiest to find are the various Throwback products like Pepsi Throwback or Mountain Dew Throwback. I personally prefer Mexican Coke and 7up Retro over those two though, but none as much as

I haven't touched a fountain soda in over a decade due to the common stories/eyewitness accounts I've heard about cockroaches clogging the dispenser and my own unfortunate experience of unknowingly dispensing and consuming a glass full of ants.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Dont like Coke products to much cause IMO they are too sweet and not as fizzy as Pepsi's. Of course I have to agree with Sykotek and have to say the Throwback line is the best. I was so happy when they decided to make those permanent.

Hey speaking of sodas anyone out there like Ruby Red Squirt. I liked that one alot too but for some reason I cant find any in the stores in my area (Northern California). Did they stop making that stuff?

Yeah, I believe that. When my mum was little, she'd only have access to soft drink at Christmas time. Simpler times...

As for me, I'm actually drinking a can of Pepsi as I'm typing this, but I also like Coke. I don't drink soft drink all that often, but when I do, those are my two main choices. Energy drinks though...that's a different story! I'm addicted to the Mother stuff (though I try to refrain from over consumption). I also remember an apple-flavoured Sprite drink that I absolutely loved, but it was taken off the shelves

Mine would probably be Wild Cherry Pepsi, but the one I drink most often is Dr. Thunder (generic Dr. Pepper). My favorite soda of all time, though, would have to be Pepsi Blue. I will forever lament the day that such a delectable drink was discontinued... >_<
