The current roster is great. But in the next game they should add new nintendo characters like:
Isaac (golden sun) Saki (S&P) Little Mac (Punch out) Ray MK (custom robo) Geno (Mario RPG) Lyn (Fire Emblem) Darknut/Link's sidekick (loz: spirit tracks) Pokemon trainer with 3 new pokemon (pokemon) S. Goroh (f-zero)
And only five 3rd parties: Sega (Sonic) Capcom (mega man) Konami (Solid Snake) Square Enix (Crono) Hudson (bomberman)
I agree, except for darknut and more Pokemon Trainers (More legendary Pokemons would do.). Althought Sqaure Enix (Unless you count Geno) should wait for Namco to represent, if they do. But Crono is a great idea.
New first party characters that NEED to be included are:
Little Mac Isaac Animal Crossing resident (who instead of a colour change, is an animal change ) Eggplant Wizard (just to balance Kid Icarus) Space Pirate
3rd party characters that I'd like to see, and I think 2 for each company this time SEGA: Sonic and Joe Musashi CAPCOM: Mega Man and Viewtiful Joe SQUARE-ENIX: Sora and Black-Mage NAMCO: Pac-Man and Yoshimitsu HUDSON: Bomberman and Master Higgins KONAMI: Simon Belmont and Solid Snake

Joe Musashi? Viewtful Joe? Sora? Yoshimitsu? And Master Higgins? You have got to be kidding me. We do not need Joe Musashi, Sora (Why is it such a popular request? It's not like he'll be in.), Yoshimitsu (Never heard of him before.), and especially not Master Higgins. The same can be said for Viewtful Joe if Tatsunko Vs. Capcom doesn't do well critically and/or sales wise. There are better representive then those suggested characters, but I'm not going into detail on that.
Don't get me wrong, all these companies should support the next Super Smash Bros. 4, but as much as I like to have anime characters or even 12 third-party characters, the former is not going to happen and chances are extermly slim on the latter.

Well I picked 2 characters for each company, each from a different game as to avoid one franchise getting over exposure, I also like the idea of having the majority of them as DLC if Nintendo ends up going that way. Joe Musashi is probably a more popular SEGA choice that would work in the Smash Bros. world as a Super Monkey Ball, NiGHTS or Jet Set Radio character wouldn't really fit as well.
Yoshimitsu is Namco's most popular fighting game character (I only say so because he transends franchises from Tekken to Soul Calibur and i believe he's been in another).
I also implore you to tell me another Hudson character that'd represent the company better than Master Higgins, I'm sorry, but Bonk just wouldn't cut it.
Viewtiful Joe would be insanely cool, and I'd love to see him take on Captain Falcon. He's also someone that wouldn't act like Snake, like anyone from the Resident Evil series.
If Square were to put anyone in there, and Nintendo kept true to their characters that've only appeared playable on a Nintendo console, Cloud and anyone else beyond Final Fantasy VII wouldn't cut it, a Chocobo would have a better chance, so I picked Sora, as Kingdom Hearts is insanely popular and he was in a GBA exclusive, he'd also work well in Smash Bros.
We're all just picking our wishlists in all honesty, I don't see Dixie Kong, K. Rool, Ridley, Vaati, Balloon Fighter, Gooey and Micaiah making it either.
In a perfect world SSB4 would have DLC packs available Little Big Planet style, where you get a slew of characters, levels and music to promote an upcoming game or company, say if Capcom threw a Street Fighter pack you'd maybe get Ryu and M. Bison as playable characters, a level, Blanka as an assist trophy and 5 original/remixed songs for the level.
But yeah, we're all putting wishlists in and we're entitled to our opinions, we're by no means experts at this
As for Space Pirate, they're the same size as Samus, can do most of the things she can do (save for morph balling) and would be more practical in a Smash fight than Ridley

You have an vaild point in all of your statement, but there's a problem with Sora. The Kingdom Heart series, while developed by Square Enix, has Disney characters in it and Disney was also involved in the developement. If Sora does have a chance, it's extremely slim, especially since we have yet to see an Disney game on the Virtual Console.

Lets add Square Enix in there just for fun and say Cloud and Sora O and lets add Showen Jump and put Naruto, Goku, and Luffy It's a long shot but a guy can hope right?

If you mean the Pokemon Trainer to replace the old one, no problem. I did too, just didn't list the new Pokemons.
What if there's no pokemon 5th gen by then? HG/SS is next, and that's coming out in 2010. Which means SSB4 would have t o come out after 2011 (at least)
