I prefer the classic ones over X even though it's a great game. There's a certain charm to them that other MM series simply did not have.

Mega Man X will always be one of the best MM games out there. It definitely has charm, as well as great level design, cool weapons, and fun enemies and bosses. Not to mention great music.

This. So much this.

Megaman X was the first video game I ever played. I love the series to death, especially the very first one.

Nice to see that you guys remembered who I was! I almost feel like a stranger to this site, since I haven't logged on in such a while (been visiting though).

Anyway, it's about time Capcom got in gear and released another Mega Man gem on VC. Seriously, they drag these release dates out too much. But wait, where's Mega Man 5, 6, and 7? :o Don't tell me they're not going to release them due to low popularity.......'cause that'd be dumb, right?

Hopefully they will release them but who knows with the way they release VC games? I was hoping that they would release the rest of the Megaman series before moving on to the X series but we shall see. So far its only slated to be released in Japan Megaman X so who knows if we will even get it, although I dont see why not.

I should have betted you on that I would be rich now. :P

I can now finally give Megaman X a try again been wanting to try it out again since the last time I played it was on the SNES when if first came out. I had the MMX collection on PS2 but I had to trade it in when I was laid off to pay some bills. I am defiantly going to DL this one, although it might have to wait till next month since my money is tied up with Mortal Kombat coming out tomorrow.

Well now my only question is now that they released X on the VC are we going to see Megaman 5-7 or have they decided not too release those ones since they werent as popular (in sales at least) as the first four. I hope they do release them but I have to say its looking grim now. I mean yeah its been rated by the ESRB but so have a bunch of other games that still havent made it to the VC.

I'm surprised more people haven't come here to celebrate the release of Mega Man X on Virtual Console. We might even get Mega Man 5 here soon too, so where's the party? I can't really party much myself, seeing as how I have both games in cartridge form already. There's no need for me to download either one (unless I really need to blow some Wii points).

Still, it's nice to see the VC getting some good releases now and then.

I figured we would see you with the announcement of MMX Megastonesmash. Its good to see ya :D. As for the party I think the party was in the news section of the site under the announcement of Megaman X release. As I said I am happy cause I can check out this game now, although it will have to wait.

It is good to see though the VC get some love seems kinds funny though that now the 3DS is out that the VC has picked up. The only thing that has me worried with all the rumors flying around about a Wii 2 announcement at E3 is are we going to see MM6 and MM7 before the next console is released?

I'm here for the party! I never played anything past Mega Man 4 so I am looking forward to the party lasting a long time :)

I miss Japanese games, the good stuff... Games that are imaginative, have good and unique gameplay, a great soundtrack, and replay value.

Welcome Ryno. IMO Megaman 6 was the best one out of MM 5 6 7 and 8. I have yet to play MM 9 and 10 so I cant count those. Megaman 5 was ok but to me it seems a little rushed compared to the other Megaman games. Alot of people like it alot and its not a bad game I just think it came of a little weak compared to the other games in the series. If you have never played it though you are in for a treat.

Thanks Tasuki, I have the Mega Man collection for PS2 so I am trying to work my way through it. I wish though I had save states like the VC for Wiley's Castle since I hate starting all over from the beginning again! Oh well, that is "old school" I guess. You are one of the few people that I have heard say they like 6 over 5.

I believe that you can get passwords from sites like Gamefaqs that you can use that will take you right to Wilys Castle. Also I dont know if its the same with the PS2 version but on the Gamecube version when you save your game to the mem card when you go back and continue the game it will put you right back where you were even if you were in Wilys Castle without the need for a password.

@Ryno - I'm one of those that like 6 over 5 as well. A lot of people prefer 5 over 4 and 6, but I have to say 5 is my least favorite of the original six games. Not saying it's a bad game, because it's good, it just doesn't have the zazz the others have. MM6 has a lot more "moving parts" I guess you can say, with an active submarines, bouncy stuff, different Rush adapters and the energy balancer, I give it credit for trying something new :- )

MM1-5 were part of my child hood, but I totaly missed out on 6 and 7(aside from playing the intro stage at my friends house back in the SNES days, while then tossing it aside for the 'cooler' MMX.lol). I remember enjoying MM8 during my teenage years while absolutely loathing it's music and voice overs...Mega Man(in-game) "Power shot!" ugh!

MM9 was amazing while MM10 was just dissapointing imo, for the trillionth time. :p
I'm going to hold off on MMX for the VC for now. I'd rather play MM5 first which i never beat as a kid. The question is, when in the hell is it going to be released? Hopefully next month. :)

@Ryno: I'm on that list, too. I have always wondered why people hated MM6. It has good music, good level design, and as far as I'm concerned, good bosses. Mega Man 5 on the other hand, while still a good entry in the series, just isn't as good. Most of the music lacks that certain catchiness and good sound that the music from the earlier titles had. The enemy selection for the Robot Master stages doesn't make sense (seriously, there are very few stage-themed/specific enemies, and most of them are reused in more than one stage even if they don't fit the level at all), most of the Master Weapons are terrible and give little reason to use anything but the Mega Buster, and the majority of the bosses are too easy to beat. Still, it is a Mega Man game, and it fits that title well. The gameplay is great, but it's not one of my favorites in the series.

Also I think the reason that alot of people didnt care for six was the fact that it was made for the NES towards the end of the NES lifecycle. Alot of people at time were done with there NES and moved on to the SNES. In fact the NA version of MM6 wasnt even published by Capcom :o it was published by Nintendo. Alot of people just couldnt see why MM6 couldnt have been made for the SNES instead of the NES.

Seriously, the only weapon that's even worth using ever is the Gyro Attack. The Charge Kick is completely useless. The weapons in MM6 aren't that impressive either, but they're still better than 5's.
