[16:43] James: I should learn these site rules more clearly
[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I am going to try my hand at King's Knight, and maybe Yoshi's cookie if I still have time left. I feel that the key toarodying the Worlds of Power books is to have just enough inaccuracies so that it feels badly made, but doesn't seem like your trying too hard.
Who are you running from? (?_?)/
someday there will be a cactus pokemon, that is actually good.
(O vvv O)/ add me if you want to play KI:U, or ACNL, OR Pokemon
I make a lot of typos, so expect many of my posts to be edited
Sounds like a lot of fun! I am taking a Novel Writing class for college right now, so I am kinda booked until late december and then I could write something. Super C would be interesting!
I'm not sure if I'll have the time to bust out an entire story :/
Would it be alright if I did a 10ish page story in the world of Urban Champion?
Absolutely! No length restrictions in either direction. Go for it!
Also I've been looking into Lulu, and that might be the way I go. It's print on demand, so if 100 people want to buy a copy they will print up 100, and if 5 people want a copy they will print up 5. It doesn't look like there's any setup cost, and it would be up to me how much I charged. They take their cut for manufacturing, and you get the difference.
So I'll have to look into this, but my understanding is that I'm pretty safe as long as I'm not profiting from it. If I set the purchase price at exactly their cost of manufacture, there won't be any profit for me, and you guys would all get to buy one at cost. Kind of a win-win, so I'll check into it a little more and if I'm right, I think that's the way we'll go.
I really need to start writing. I REALLY want to follow through on a Paperboy idea, but I'll be bogged down until December because of School (I have three papers that need to be done within these next three weeks, including a book review on William Cooper's Town). So far I have a few basic characters thought up.
Unnam Edcha Racter: The main character. Unnam is a "I'm too cool" kind of guy who loves baseball and watches a lot of Cheers. I've made him to fall into the angsty teenager archetype, but in reality he really isn't very cool and is actually is more of wimp than anything. I haven't quite figured out everything, and his character is subject to change, so if you don't like his current direction, let me know.
Sammey Baloney: The Paperboy who called it quits. He opened a smoothie shop, named Cheers, after his failures as a Paperboy. Sammey isn't as much of a clone of Sam Malone as he is a unique character. He's simply someone who helps to make Unnam connect to and pity Main Street.
N.E.W.S (Nintendo Entertainment Watcher Society) and The Front Yard: A small organization under the C.N.A. (Central Nintelligence Agency). They have been trying to figure out and stop the plans of the Grim Reaper. They are the people hiring Paperboys. Maybe the newspapers actually have some importance. The N.E.W.S. is the NTSC version of the operation, and they have a love/hate relationship with the Front Yard (meant to be a reference to the Scotland Yard), who also is taking trying to stop the plans of the Grim Reaper.
The Grim Reaper: A strange entity who is planning... something. No one knows what his plans are, but it seems to involve the use of real human brains.
What you can expect from The Lost Worlds of Power: Paperboy:
-A satire on cliches and too archetypical characters
-A mockery of fan fiction
-The most Deus Ex Machina resolution to a climax I can think of (It's almost as convenient as something falling from the sky. )
-References Galore (Some good, some bad)
-Mockeries of infamous plot twists that ruined a story
-A somewhat-purposefully convoluted story
-A take on the 80s written by a kid born in '98
Are you excited yet? Donate $1,000,000 to me and I'll make a game version of the story and port it to Wii U!
Edit: @Phillip_J_Reed: I'm excited to hear that. Hopefully it will work out. I look forward to being able to show off my masterpiece.
We now have seven(!) submissions, which is not bad for the first month!
Still two months to go...what I've gotten so far is actually really good stuff. I'm very excited about this, and I hope you guys have time to get your own submissions done!
@Philip_J_Reed: Sounds like it's going great! I'm going to start working on mine for real once December starts (in a couple of days). So my entry should be coming soon! When I want to enter it, should I just email it to you, or is there someplace I should go to enter it?
Just email it to me! I'll share it with James (the co-editor) and it'll be up for official consideration. Good luck, I'm looking forward to reading it!
The final week! Slight deadline extension, so that folks can have the weekend to finish / polish. It's now due Sunday at midnight instead of Friday. Got a lot of great ones so far, and I'm hoping for many more! Whether you're contributing or not, stay tuned, because this is going to be one heck of an anthology.
So over the past three days we received 20 submissions(!). Looks like a lot of folks put the time to good use.
If you're interested in submitting, you still have until the end of the day Sunday. If you're not, that's fine too...but definitely plan on downloading it. It's going to be free, and the (admittedly few) submissions I've had time to read so far are stellar.
