@Philip_J_Reed - About how long do you want a submission to be?
I foresee what you'll do there.

@Philip_J_Reed - About how long do you want a submission to be?
However long it takes you to write something awesome. No hard and fast length requirements. The original Worlds of Power books were around 80 - 100 pages with very large type, so probably around 40 - 45 normal pages. You can aim for that, but by no means do you have to! I suggest you just start working on it and see where the project takes you!
@Phil Maybe I will go for PunchOut!! then. Thank goodness you understand that it needs the two exclamation points to be correct, sometimes I just feel like people think I'm always excited for PunchOut!!. .-.

Heh, so I confess I rarely, if ever, entertain the the idea of visiting these forums (time-conscious priorities, I suppose); however, from this one seemingly fated trip to the bathroom I return to find my two year-old daughter has all too comfortably jettisoned herself onto my Android surfboard headed for the data waves yet breaking on the horizon. I catch a glimpse of her hanging ten before a hurried stumble into her periphery causes her to bail out in the waters of General Discussion Bay.
Rather than scold or comfort her back to shore, I completely ignore the bothersome whimpering and begin to do like all proud modern parents... Stare into my smartphone. What do I find?
I find myself here. And what a glorious place it is!
Visions of snarled mysteries unwound by the incomparable Kickle Cubicle. A raw, gritty glimpse into rise and fall of the rugged legends who laced up the Blades of Steel. The entrancing, life-affirming odyssey of Adventure Island. A truly tragic romantic comedy that will drain all your tears and then raise you out of your seat in trembling applause for a pair of... uh... Bad cough Dudes...
OK, I could doubtlessly fill a whole useless rag with my own stupid, indulgent ideas. So if I can find the time or the motivation, I feel it's my distinct duty to tangle one goofy little yarn into knots, if only it will potentially clutter such a distinguished publication. Especially considering the strange circumstance.
Not sure if I can commit to a theme yet (is Zanac too abstract?). But I'm definitely on board to cook something up. Now I gotta tell my wife to let me to my office, I've important research waiting impatiently...
I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Would pushing the deadline back to January make more sense? I'd love to start work on the anthology at the end of the year, but if another month will result in more (and better) submissions I'll happily push it back.
Thanks for all the support, guys. If there really is enough interest, maybe I'll do another volume in the future. For now though, let's make this one great!
@Phil I believe it would result in higher quality submissions, at least from myself, I've got quite a bit on my plate right now, so that extra time would likely give me a far less stressful month. D:

I would do one for Donkey Kong 3 but alas, I have no computer or spare time these days. Looking forward to reading some good stuff from everyone else though!
@Chickenbrutusdarling is there Tingle in any of the nes zelda games? If so I shall ponder writing an epic about myself. If not then screw it because I don't know any nes games.
Check out SUBLIME GAMER, my YouTube Channel
God loves you
@Philip - I've been toying with a few Metroid and Mega Man 3 ideas. However, I would enjoy putting Ice Climbers to pen.
I foresee what you'll do there.

I'd like to participate but I can barely write 8 pages about anything so I doubt I could write a book(at the moment, I plan becoming able as sooon as possible to write at least enough to make my own classic style RPG)

As a kid, I was always drawn to the NES games that hinted at some sort of outlandish story without any real consideration or representation in the game design. No matter how terrible, I couldn't help but fill in the gaps with my imagination. Of course, we now know that was tantamount to the appeal of the Golden Age. Really, what kid could stop his imagination from frolicking while gawking at the comely shelves of NES boxart?
Maybe the years have tilted my perspective, but I seem to recall every glorious gaming session followed by hours of real life enactment. Certainly the restrictive abstraction inspired us to not only think creatively, but also probably pushed us to put down the controller entirely. You know, because the stories in our heads were so much cooler than what was being represented on the screen.
Anyway, I've put some thought into it and I'm thinking I'll do something obscure and off-the-wall... Maybe like S.C.A.T... If I have time I'm also planning to try a few more, but my mind is too busy concocting a team of Cybernetic teenagers at the moment... (For whatever it's worth, Mach Rider, Life force, Zanac, Guardian Legend, Solomon's Key, and Legacy of the Wizard are the other likely candidates.)
