Wait, first game we played or first game we OWNED and played? If its first game we played, Pac-Man on Game Boy If its the latter, Pac-Man Collection on Game Boy Advance
Super Mario 64 I first played it when I was only 4. My dad has a video of me failing the very first level several times. And to think now I can do it in a minute.
:Sees blurry images of a store aisle with Super Mario Kart. Remembers conversation of trading in Star Fox for Super Mario Kart. Remembers watching older brother play Star Fox, Mega Man X and Battleship:
...I'm thinking probably Super Mario World or Super Mario Kart. I distinctly remember never playing Star Fox/Mega Man X/Battleship. That was so long ago, though. Like, when I was 4-bit.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Back in '97-'98 as a young boy, we had both an N64 and a PS1 in the home.
First game for me was GoldenEye 007 (and yes, for a young boy back then I won on my first try, dumb luck I suppose.)
First game on Sony's side was Crash Bandicoot. Loved it a lot, now Crash is no longer celebrated as a good series, just lotsa ripoffs like Crash Nitro Kart.
