I am a proud fanboy. I love expressing my opinion on video games, and debating with others on gaming topic. If we all just shut up and stopped expressing those opinions and debating, what would be the point of forums? They'd be purely factual, which would be useful, but boring. So yes, the Internet would get boring without fanboys.
As for console wars, you might as well tell companies to stop competing. Which isn't going to happen, as (and I've said this before and will say it again) businesses exist to make money. I mean, unless you're a communist that wants the government to regulate business, but I kinda doubt that.
Best way to fight it is to not be the stereotype version of a fanboy (or girl). I'm a Nintendo fan but I'm more than willing to play other games, systems, franchise, etc. given the time and/or money. Best way is to stay open minded and not take it too seriously. Too bad the rules of the internet wipes the toilet with my "open mind". Well if anything a topic fuel by fanboys (negative sense) gets more post and views than the non-sterotype version.
As for console wars…. that one seems to be more of a Highlander territory, especially after the fall of Sega.
A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

@New_3DaSh_XL Fanboy has a new meaning now. Before it meant a hardcore fan, now it means someone who thinks a company or a thing is absolutely perfect in every way, and that they can do no wrong, and attacks anyone who critiques said company or thing.

You sure you're a fanboy?Cause it sounds like you're just a guy who's level headed.Cause fanboy's aren't people you cannot take seriously, they think there favorite company is perfect in every way and the other's are garbage compared to there favorite.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations & Watch Dogs 2

No, it's more a shift of more immature 10 year olds getting their hands on a computer, smartphone, etc and going crazy online. I am a fanboy, but I'm not going to force my opinion upon you and can see the flaws in that which I adore. And I know many others that are this way. But regardless, fanboyishness is good, though some do go overboard.
