As marvel goes, I've always enjoyed Ghost Rider to some degree and Deadpool to a major degree, and I really enjoy the MAX imprint of Punisher. I love the concept of Ghost Rider, but after a few issues the storylines always just get really stupid as I see them. Great oppurtunitied are bypassed and maybe I just don't like Daniel Way's storytelling. As DC goes I've always liked Batman, but no one else, really. I do tend to stick to the Vertigo imprint. Sandman, great stuff, the Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Lucifer, Honestly, I think I just like finite storylines. I like a story with an end, not an endless melodrama ( though I have a soft spot for Hellblazer, and I guess my Marvel choices betray this feeling as well). I am also a huge fan of Walking Dead. Best rendition of a post apocolyptic world in my opinion.
I also am not a fan at all of crossovers. I think characters stand better in their own world as opposed to other characters randomly showing up and really throwing a wrench into things.
i never really followed the companies (marvel, dc, vertigo, america's best comics, dark horse)... if you are an artist driven reader the follow an artist you love... for me it's about the writer. (even though i love the visual aspect as well!)
I am a huge DC fan, mostly for the better storytelling. You see, the stories in the DC universe are much better than the stories in the Marvel universe. Marvel has some "neat" ideas, but alas, the stories are quite weak. Batman rules, the end.
You act like that is a fact which is nothing more than an opinion. Yes Batman rules though, that part of your statement is a fact .
Did you read the first post? Mine post was in response to the first post. Read the thread son, read the thread.

Uh.. If you did not know I was joking with ya. Notice the smiley. Sorry you were unable to figure that out on your own. Hate to tell ya I am too old to be a son though.
A lot of people butcher batman... the good stuff is starlin's batman in the horror thriller "the cult" or miller's classic "the dark knight returns" (NOT THE SEQUEL) or moore's short but ground breaking "the killing joke".... it's not so much "dc's stories" that are good or "batman"...
@Longtimegamer- I certainly hope so. I have ten trade paperbacks so far, and the story shows no signs of stopping, though a new plot twist seems a little odd, but everything to this point has been amazing.
I enjoy DC Comics far, far, faaaaaar more than Marvel because I find the characters and stories more engaging. Every time I try to get into Marvel I just end up getting pissed one way or another. The only titles I read regularly from them right now is Mighty Avengers and Ultimate Comics Spider Man. It's better for my bank account anyhow to mostly be into one company, as I usually spend about anywhere from $15 to $35 a week on comics.
How do the newer comics compare to the old ones. It has been at least 10-12 years since I have picked up an actual monthly issue. I just buy the Big 500 page Marvel Essentials and DC Showcase reprints.
newer comics have more complex story telling. I suggest Civil War and secret invasion. DC story telling is pretty bad as they seem to kill people off for no reason (Bruce Wayne) and have these stupid big events where stuff blows up . i do enjoy Bucky Barnes and Dick Grayson as the new Captain America and Batman compared to their predecessors. Geoff Johns Green lantren saga is the best thing DC has going for them right now thought.
Alright what writer would you want to write what series. For me its allen moore working on the Punshier or dark avengers.

Errr just FYI Bruce Wayne isn't dead - he never really was, but I don't want to spoil any further. If you must know, follow this link: http://tinyurl.com/yj488pl
Shame though, I really like Dick Grayson as Batman right now. :/
Ive never really cared about the differences between DS and Marvel for some reason. Ive always loved Batman Comics and XMen comics the most. Lately Ive been reading Gears of War and the Mirrors Edge comics and a few Star Wars here and there but nothing major. When I really want to get some comic reading on I always go back to THE FLASH wich the hands down the greatest comic character EVER! My opinion Hey even Big Bang Theory gives The Flash the much praise he deserves!

Well the story telling is much better, more modern. While the comics from 'back in the old days' (Showcases and Essential reprints basically) are fun and all, they were really written for kids - which is why they feel corny and outlandish sometimes LOL. Comics today, while some are still written for kids, have a much broader audience ranging from teens to adults. And the art certainly has changed, you get a good variety on art.
Your best bet is to really just head down to your local comic shop (if you have one) or your local bookstore and pick up a few issues from each company. That way you can figure out for yourself what you like and don't like. DC Comics is really rocking the Green Lantern books right now, and it's to my understanding that Marvel's three Avengers books are doing pretty good too (I read Mighty Avengers and enjoy it). :]
As a committed Marvel fanboy, and an Avengers fanboy in particular, i've been getting raped in the wallet over the past few years what with the Avengers books being the centerpiece of the MarvelU. But i love it, especially as someone who's a fan of those B and C level characters (US Agent and Hellcat are personal faves), that the Initiative and Mighty books are bringing back lots of those characters. How awesome is Taskmaster?! Been a fan of his since originally seeing him in Cap all those many years ago.
I've tried getting into the DCU (and was big on the DCU as a kid) and i follow the major events, but beyond some of the Bat books or occasional Supes or GL run, i can't seem to do it.
Not to interested in investing into the newer monthly ones, was mainly interested in what the difference was. Thanks for letting me know ! After I get done with what I am reading I am going to search for a TPB or Graphic Novel a little more modern though. I am sure my local Waldens Bookstore will have quite a few if they are still set up like they once was.I just like to have whole storyline at once. At this stage for me it is just a side hobby for when I am taking a break from gaming and alone time from the world .
It is good to hear the writing is better. Sometimes even as a child or now when I go back and read my old issues, I sometimes scratch my head.
