Hi. I don't know if i want to choose between the two. I do like alot of marvel stuff, but I'll read DC (or others) too. I remember growing up collecting Superman stuff (even the encylopedia). I recently saw a question that was like "Who do like (or choose. something like that) Batman or Spiderman. I wouldn't want to choose between them because I like them both. They're both cool in their own ways.
I used to read the Sonic comics, and I have some old Spiderman, Batman, Super Man, and other comics that my dad left me.
I could never quite get into comicbooks, always wanted to since my dad liked 'em, but I just prefer not having to keep up with long, convoluted storyline. Mostly I just read comic strips, like Garfield and...whatever the heck else is in the Sunday funnies, as well as web comics like Penny Arcade, VG Cats, Rob & Elliot, DMFA, and others.
@Mickeymack: I like those CD comic compilations. I have the ultimate Xmen one which has over 75 comics (if I remember right). I think I got it for 10 dollars. Got a brother a Spiderman one with ton (Over 300? been awhile) of comics on it for 30 or 35 dollars, i think. Wish I could get more of those for that price)
I have not kept up with comics since I was 12. Since they are often cost effective I once in a while buy a Marvel Essentials series comic or a DC Showcase Presents. I read Wolverine vol. 1-4 last year. So far this year I have started on Iron Man vol. 1 . Cannot beat the price as a lot of Amazon sellers sell them new dirt cheap. I prefer Marvel though as I have always liked the characters better. I really want to pick up Marvel Essentials Wolverine vol. 5 but I still got Silver Surfer vol. 1 after the Iron Man.
Favorite characters are Wolverine and Spider-Man from Marvel. From DC Green Lantern and Batman. Read Watchmen last year before I seen the movie and enjoyed both quite a bit. The DC Showcase ones kind of crack me up with the old old Superman printings and Green Lantern ones.
I haven't bought comics in a while, I spend too much money on TV show box sets now days. But I prefer Marvel over DC. Nothing beats Punisher, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Captain America and Deadpool (for me).
Yea I don't keep up as much as I like BUT I started getting comics in graphic novel form from the library. I think u can still see some free online Marvel ones (I don't think I can use my Wii to read them though). I got to read about Spidergirl, the Sandman books, and the Runaways this way. I'm sure I'm disconnected from alot of what's going on in DC and Marvel Nowadays. I used to collect them but it's a bit expensive nowadays. I've got some here and there, not many (of actual comics or comps, under 10 maybe?)
@IlikeVideoGames Man we have the same favorite super heroes expect wolverine. I read watchmen two years ago in 9th grade and it still is my favorite standalone graphic novel alan moore is a freakin genuis.
Also i would like to see a runaways movie then show in the vien of heroes or smallville.
WAT!

In Marvel I like Spiderman and Xmen comics abit. I wish there horror comics like back in the day, Like house of Secrets or Vault of horror (is that right?).
I collected comics when I was a kid for years and years. My grandfather got me into collecting after he gave me some mint ancient gems that are worth a hefty penny nowadays (the first ten issues of Amazing Spider-Man and Tales of Suspense #39 are some of the more famous issues that I have locked away... if he would have only had Amazing Fantasy #15 I would've **** myself). I used to love Marvel (Spider-Man mostly but I collected any special edition or first issue of any given series). I still enjoy the Marvel characters but I haven't touched a Marvel book in practically ten years since the quality dropped off immensely following the huge Onslaught storyline. I collected and read for maybe a year or two until I grew uninterested after the "rebooting" of some of their main franchises happened.
I also read more mature comics alongside the "superhero" comics as a kid and grew to like them more. Better authors and storylines by far. Sandman, Watchmen, Spawn, V for Vendetta, Witchblade, and so many others that came out in the 80s and 90s. Granted I was born in the mid-80s, I'm glad I was able to get to read those series growing up alongside the usual Marvel superheroes. I have since grown out of the superhero comic entirely and tend to read more mature titles.
Now I collect hardcover collections of comics instead of buying issues. Easier to store and collect. I still buy issues if the series is exceptionally great/interesting ("Chew", "Sweet Tooth", and "Kick-Ass" come to mind of late). Image comics are still a good label and "The Walking Dead" is a great series. I never was a fan of DC "superhero" comics but their imprint Vertigo has released some of the best comics of the previous decade by some of the best in the business ("Fables", "Y: The Last Man", Jeff Lemire's graphic novels, etc.).
Recently, two of the best comics I've come across have been "I Kill Giants" by Joe Kelly (of "Deadpool" fame) and the horror/suspense "Locke and Key" series by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son). Both are extremely well done, entertaining, and two of the best books out now along with Chew and Sweet Tooth. I recently picked up the newly released "Rocketeer" deluxe edition which is great. I could go on forever since everything I listed is only the tip of the iceberg and I could probably talk Marvel in the 90s till sunrise.
Stan Lee is still one of, if not the coolest person alive.
I do not have as many TPB as I would like but I really need to go back and read a lot of my old ones. I cannot remember even what all I have. I read em in a shoe box to keep them from getting any dust on them. I read a lot of different comics as the lady at the bookstore when I was a kid sold the ones that did not sell at full price 4 for $1.00 and sometimes when she had a lot of em in stock she would put 10 for $1.00. So I would pick up a Superman comic, Ghost Rider, Turok, Avengers, Captain America, X-O Manowar. I swear if I would of been 20 years older at the time and the lady that ran that bookstore was not so brutal looking I would have married her . God I feel old. I also remember when new comics were 75 cents.
Who was your guys favorite artists ? Mine was always the Kubert brothers and Jim Lee. Sylvestri was pretty good also and McFarlane as well.
@Ilikevideogames: I remember when they were cheaper that that. Remember the Giant sized comics too. I think Superman vs. Spiderman was one of them. I used to have that comic. I wonder whatever happened to it?
@Kevohki: I got to read Watchmen (last year?) when I got it from our local library.
I'm definitely a Marvel fan , since the universe as a whole is better, and i LOVE having heroes that feel like REAL people... not just unobtainable gods. However... as much as Steve Rogers id the man, Marvel has no role model like Superman... and while it's general stories are better (compare the amazing and thought-provoking Civil War to the disjointed and acid-induced Infinite Crisis) it has no stand-alone titles that can compete with Watchmen, V for Vendetta, or The Dark Knight Returns. so i definitely appreciate both companies, but i will tell you i'd pick Marvel over DC any day. and, ad JLA vs. Avengers proved, Marvel heroes have more heart... eye of the tiger, baby.
I am a huge DC fan, mostly for the better storytelling. You see, the stories in the DC universe are much better than the stories in the Marvel universe. Marvel has some "neat" ideas, but alas, the stories are quite weak. Batman rules, the end.

You act like that is a fact which is nothing more than an opinion. Yes Batman rules though, that part of your statement is a fact .
I collected comics quite a bit in my younger days. I still have all of them packed away. Some of the more memorable series that I liked and still remember are the New Mutants, which later turned into X-Force, Tood McFarlane's Spiderman, Ghost Rider, and Spawn. I especially liked some of the crossover comics that would pair superheroes from either different groups/teams or different comic companies. The Infinity Gauntlet was pretty spectacular iirc.
I've always been a bigger fan of Marvel. Their characters just seemed to be more memorable and have less-cheesy names. Image was cool for a while, but I haven't really been keeping up with them.
I picked up a few comic books a few weeks ago and was completely disgusted: there were more pages with advertisements than there were of the actual comic itself. So lame...
