That spam stuff is seriously annoying. One excessively long topic heading takes as much space as a whole page of forum threads do. And there's 20+ now. And he just started posting on actual threads.

to be honest, with that fix i cobbled together, PS seems to be handled at the moment, it's just some fool went off the deep end here at NL tonight probably because i forgot my phone at home when i left to go eat and then shop for the week /eyeroll

I think it's intended more as a heroes greeting, after all this is the most pleasant forum / tightest knit group of users I've encountered. This is due in large part to competent moderation, we users couldn't be more appreciative of how the staff guards the turf of its patron users.

idk, sometimes it feels like when (on the rare occasion) we have someone get past our defenses and start causing trouble and no one's around to fix it immediately, people start flipping out and acting like the forums have been abandoned by the moderation team, and i promise you we haven't done so at all. it's very irritating to have to take care of a slew of 'omg mods ban this guy already wtf' off-topic posts along with all of the actual spam.

@Rosalina: haha, that's not what i mean at all — the best possible thing you can do when something like this happens is to ignore the spammer or troll, just report their posts and go on with your discussion in the threads with actual topics (of course, a thread like this it's not really possible to go off-topic, so it's fine to discuss it here). That way, when we come through and delete all the offending troll posts or spam posts, the discussion just goes on like nothing has happened at all instead of leaving 'mods ban this guy' over and over in a thread with no guy to ban anymore, thus confusing anyone else coming in after you to continue the actual discussion and potentially derailing the thread afterthefact. Does that make sense? :3
