@Meowpheel I'm feeling the remakes are far worse with difficulty, as I can see trainers didn't get buffed...but Gym Leaders did. I have a team of 5 but I know the levels for Wild stuff doesn't go beyond 25 or so....so I'm kinda stuck there. The variety is terrible.
I'm enjoying this more than the remakes, if that says anything.
But my problem now is...what will be my last team member?
And regarding Clair, I already know she caps at lv40. Thing is...I know in at least G/S you can get to Blackthorn after 7 Badges but before beating Archer...which means the wild Pokemon are the same level as the rest of the stuff between gyms 4-7, and the trainers aren't much better.
But that means you end up with a level jump between Archer and Clair...with no real preparation time or opportunities.
Also, to really drive it home: the raid on the Rocket Hideout is the 2nd time in the game you see them. The SECOND. Of THREE!!! The first is before the 2nd Gym, the 2nd is before what is meant to be the 7th Gym, and the last time is after the 7th Gym.
It's easy to see why I thought so little of Team Rocket when they were announced to return in USUM, given this was my sole exposure to them, and having gone in the intended order, meaning they were even lower below me than they were here, it was a wash, and my opinion of Team Rocket was basically....what is that it?

I kind of always go first to the hideout since they're so weak. Makes things flow a bit better.
If you want a tip, save a team spot or two for after the elite four, things go a lot better with a smaller team. Then you have a few other options in Kanto, like slugma, tyranitar, houndoom, khangaskan, Aerodactyl, blissey, etc.
"We discovered 100 new Pokemon after 3 years. They were just to the west of Kanto".
Okay, nice excuse, doesn't matter. Why are some of those 100 newly discovered Pokemon only found in Kanto, like Murkrow and Houndour?
I don't know how I feel holding off on a slot. Then again, this is the lowest levelled Elite Four in the franchise, starting at 40 and ending at 50. Plus movesets in this game are hilariously bad, so I expect no issues.
Currently I'm rocking with Golbat, Graveler, Bayleef, Lanturn and Quagsire.

Don't be afraid to hold on to a spot. There's still more game after that, after all.
And ha! Yeah the movesets, tell me about it. In my recent playthrough of silver on the virtual console I went with Jumpluff and Xatu.
One only learns a grand total of two damaging moves (the strongest of which has 40 power and learns it at level 44) and the other basically learns nothing useful until level 60-something.
It was an interesting experience to say the least.
Yeah I'm not sure what compelled them to make almost all the new Pokemon completely useless in terms of movesets. And the TMs in general were dreadful yeah.
I'm trying to remember the rest of my team...
I had Feraligatr (I would just use a chinchou to waterfall/flash whenever I absolutely had to), Pidgeot, Aerodactyl.... And someone else... Ugh which was it...?
I take it I'm not the only one who used to excessively grind up my teams by thrashing the Elite Four and turning Mt. Silver into a wasteland? Even the strongest trainer in the game fell against me! Evil Laughter
That was all back when I had way more time on my hands.

I'm only 7.5 hours in too. Honestly I can see myself finishing the game within a few more sessions, which leads me to wonder...I'll need another game I've never beaten/played to stream to fill that slot...

@Meowpheel I have a co-commentator who adores that franchise, but I don't own any of the games nor am I exactly cash-filled right now.
Lets see...
Paper Mario TTYD (Don't know if it works though)
Megaman Battle Network 2-6
Shantae
God of War 3
Castlevania 1/2/3/Bloodlines
Kirby's Adventure
Yoshi's Island
That's just from memory

Oh well if you decide to try one, the fifth game inserts the characters from your scanned guild cards into random events in the dungeons. So you could scan their card and their character would appear every now and then your game. That would be a nice cameo in a livestream.
(Cough also mine cough)
Of those you listed, my favorites are Yoshi's island and Kirby's adventure.
@Meowpheel I have no way of recording 3DS things sadly. Thats one system missing, outside of un-emulatable DS titles.
Ill run a proper twitter poll on it when the time comes.
This past week Ive streamed around 18 hours or so, with a little Sonic Colours for my regular "LP content", some more PUBG rounds, 7 full hours of Crystal...and the 4 hours last night of the NL Inklings that was exceptionally well received to my surprise.
All those are gonna be regular things. Well regular "LP content" less so because loool people have schedules and I dont, but the NL Inklings should be weekly or so, and I want to branch out from PUBG into Overwatch, Rocket League, FAST RMX, Mario Kart and more for multiplayer.

Really wished recording the 3DS directly was easier, having to use my phone and be hunched over so it's in view does hurt my back. (especially when it's Monster Hunter and the battles end up being lengthy)
