I tried making a South American dessert called Leche Asada (it literally means "roasted milk") but, after 40 minutes in the oven it's still liquid.

I'm worried it may end up as wasted ingredients.

Yeah I don’t know either.

Five. As the recipe called for.

It did end up... Cooking... And it tastes alright... But it could look a bit... Nicer.

Maybe after it cools down it will settle.

Yeah I don’t know either.

It looks a bit like crème brûlée, but I often end up screwing that up as well. Eggs, milk and heat don't mix very well.

Delibheel

Yeah it's like a simpler creme brulee, the recipe looked so easy too.

I guess I'll stick to regular good ol' Flan.

My family apparently thinks I made Chongos Zamoranos. We can keep it like that.

@Meowpheel
It’s a classic desert down here! But it takes a bit of practice to make it right, since too much milk or too little can definitively screw with the recipe.

Hello everyone! It’s been some time!

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

@Luna_110 would you say a 5 eggs for one liter of milk is a good ratio? That's what this recipe said, but maybe it needs to be eggier.

Yeah I don’t know either.

@Meowpheel
Some local websites say to use one liter of milk, but with six eggs.

Here is a website with the typical granny recipe for Leche Asada

@Luna_110 hm interesting! That one also adds a bit more sugar and says to simmer the mix before putting it in the oven.

I'll try that one next time. Thanks for the link.

Yeah I don’t know either.

Ah, the internet: Such a useful source to find dozens of recipes for the same thing, but the trick is to find the RIGHT one....Trust me, I've been burned by this.

Sounds like an interesting dessert, at any rate! Definitely something I would try.

I'll just stick with regular ol' blueberries tonight though, methinks.

@Luna_110 I've never really given it a thought, but Chile looks pretty funny the way it's divided in all its regions. Vertical lines don't make a lot of sense I suppose.

Its gotta be a bit tedious to travel from one extreme to the other.

It is. Crossing all the country (vertically) in plane takes between six to eight hours, plus there aren’t direct flights - all include layovers and/or connectionsin Santiago, the capital. In bus it must be a couple days or more.

What is weird is that you can get from the mountains and the ski centers to the beach in three or four hours.

I always wondered what it would be like to live in the view of mountains. Not in the mountains, just close enough to see them on a nice day.

We just have small hills and river bottoms here.

I live next to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and honestly I don't think they're all that great... But I've never been a fan of mountains, Id prefer to live next to the ocean instead.
