My 3DS suffered major damage during a torrential rainstorm, as the water somehow found its way into my bag. The result of that meant it wouldn't even turn on.

Thankfully, it's partially recovered after leaving it in a bowl of rice for a day. It'll now power on, but it no longer detects SD cards, and the bottom screen has a lot of water marks.

I got it working enough to successfully do a system transfer, so all my save data is safely tucked away in my other really old 3DS. So at least I haven't lost any data.

you shouldn't try to turn on a wet electronic until it's completely dry.

That means a good week or two in the rice bowl.

@crimsontadpoles Well it's good to hear that you didn't lost all your data, that's what I fear the most with these digital games and such, but thankfully for mii, I got a toolbox that I keep my 3DS and 3DS items in....I thought it was a good idea, and it lasted this long so it wasn't all that bad of a idea.

So you getting another N3DS now or gonna try for that N2DS?...or not gonna bother with it at all

@Undead_terror I have a really old 3DS lying around that still works, so I'm bringing that out of retirement. I think the problem with that one was that the R button was very problematic, so we'll see how that goes. If the R button gets too annoying, then I might be tempted to grab another 3DS or maybe a 2DS next time there's one going cheap.

@Meowpheel I know, but I'm foolish and impatient. The urge to check if it works was too powerful, and completely destroyed my common sense.

@crimsontadpoles: That's the type of situation that's nightmare fuel for me. With how many VC games I have, I'm terrified of losing all my save data should something like that happen. Glad that you managed to do a system transfer!

Soooooo....I learned the hard way that too much Monical's pizza + caffeine + ice cream + Benadryl = weird dreams that defy most RL logic.

Playing Sunshine makes me realise how much we need a Sunshine remake. I love the game, but the physics are absolutely terrible in some areas. Just collecting blue coins in Noki Bay, and the amount of times Mario fell of a ledge for no apparent reason are staggering. I hate those boxing gloves too...

Ugh, got tired flinging this flyswatter around my room trying to kill a fly. And OF COURSE Sanya just sits in the corner and gives up on catching it. lol

She literally just sat there watching me. xD

My drowned 3DS is doing much better after its long sleep in a bed of rice. Other than water marks on the bottom screen, it all seems to be fine now.

For now, I'll continue playing on my other really old worn out 3DS with the dodgy R button, but I might transfer my data back to the drowned 3DS once I want to get back into Monster Hunter or some other game that requires the R button to be working perfectly.
