This site already has a chat, though...but Lz/Ant needs to make it public on the main page or something. >.<

I want to know something called renting video games. When I hear this term that people are able to rent games, I wonder how such a thing is possible to do. Sure its possible to do it for movies, shows and books but games? How does that work? I'd like to know the advantages and disadvantages of renting video games instead of buying them legit.

Some people like to rent because it's kinda like getting a taste of the game without having to pay full price for them.

Back in the old days, when games were a really expensive luxury and even more of a gamble to purchase (online reviews and forums weren't a thing) kids had better chances to play new interesting games by renting them.

Sometimes they ended up getting the game, other times they just rented the same game over and over to beat them.

Now it's a lot less common, but some people like the convenience of trying the game beyond the confines of a demo without investing full price on it.

Now, the part I know you dislike is that the developers don't really get anything from it. Unless they run the renting service themselves. But keep in mind that if a renter likes the game enough to rent it several times, they'll probably end up buying it.

But I don't like renting games one bit. I mean if I buy a game from Nintendo, I get my money's worth of such a game because I know that its gonna be great and all. Secondly, when playing something like Xenoblade is gonna cost like what 3$ per week, its a nightmare because then I'll be paying more than the actual price of the game and that will force me to peel my eyes just to even get to the first half of the game.

The reason why I'm talking about this is because my mom wants to know if I can get dedicated games at a cheaper price. I don't want to encourage here into thinking this because I got a job now and I want to buy the game legit whether its worth it or not and I don't care because if you rent it and decide to buy it, you're paying double than the actual price of the game.

Even then, say that I do like to play games cheap, that doesn't matter because the console games are being imported and seeing as how in my country, comics are damn expensive, its no wonder that simply renting a game is going to be even more expensive than simply buying the game.

Also, this rent is only possible for retail.....what about digital? I don't know any store that rents games digitally and that still doesn't do much because what? Paying the amount of each game you download is max of 5$? That's even more costly than just buying the game.

Well then, if you don't want to rent, don't.

I don't rent games either.

About digital rents, I know play station has a service like that.

The publisher should still get money from a game being rented as Blockbuster (if they are still around anymore) had to pay fees as lending video games isn't actually legal.

@arronishere: Wait.....renting games is not legal?!?!?

@Morpheel: Yeah....speaking of Sony, how the hell are the games released on their platforms extremely cheap compared to Microsoft and Nintendo? Very often my parents say that Nintendo games are expensive and what they don't realize is that Sony consoles are super expensive for wrong reasons unlike Nintendo's. And in terms of games......I can't look at what I want and when I do see certain games being exclusive, they end up being multiplat (*guacamelee.... ahem....)

Alright, so I'm asking for some help here: I'm taking a theatre class in school, and I have to find two performances (one comedic and the other dramatic). I'm having a hard time thinking of any specific performances, so I'd like to know if anyone has some recommendations?

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

@NintendoFan64: Comedy is a bit hard since your audience needs to understand your jokes no matter how smart they are. At the same time, drama is more of a subjective matter as some will find it cliche where as others might not just be into it.

If you are looking at films that have either comedy or drama or even both, I suggest watching movies from the actor legend Robin Williams. I love Good Will Hunting as its some of the best.

Most importantly, do what you like. Don't choose something that you'll regret. If you like making people laugh, pick a comedy act. If you want your audience to feel the pain you go through for making acts, then do drama.

@diwdiws: Or....he could just make a puppet show that gives both drama and comedy. After all, that's what Shigeru Miyamoto did during his time at school.

I doubt Miyamoto ever turned up to his theatre classes with puppets.
