Well, to start this story off, it begins in my work place where I enjoy playing my 3DS during my lunch break. When I was done slacking off, I put my 3DS away into my work bag pack and when on my way back to work to make every one around me mad. As my day of work was over, I went into my back pack to find my 3DS has gone missing. Now this made me mad, so I went to my boss and ask her if we can check the cameras, but with no luck, we were unable to find who has stolen it.
So I went home as a very sad mad man, to meet my very mad girl friend.
After I told her what has happen, I was put in the dog house because this 3DS was a $200 dollar gift from her, and my 3DS also had Pokémon Y in it, with hundreds of hours clocked into it, with many shiny Pokémon she has gotten me. so she was very mad.
The next day, after I have awoken from the dog house, my girlfriend was all dress in her detective outfit , ready to hunt down my 3DS with the only clue we have. It seems my thief was online with my 3DS at 10am in the morning, and with that we rush to my job for clues. At the work place we hunted down for my 3DS using her 3DS looking for clues, in hopes to streetpass my 3DS to see if it was near by. But there was no luck again, but then she thought; well there is GameStop right next to my job, perhaps they were stupid enough to get rid of it right away, which would be dumb cause it had thousand of games downloaded on it. So we go to GameStop as her eyes quickly spotted my 3DS in there (A Silver Mario&Luigi 3DSXL). We explained to the GameStop employee that my 3DS has been stolen, and it looked like that one, and with luck, the 3DS was not formatted and it had photos of us on it. They quickly handed over my 3DS with Pokémon Y, saying the guy who stole it only got $84 buck for it, and then proceeded to call the police to track down that bastward.
Now I am at home, and happy for once that everything turn out alright, thanks to my girlfriend. BadKitty

Nice story! Geez, I'm surprised someone goes to the trouble of stealing a 3DS just for the measly trade-in value you get at Gamestop. Even if they had formatted it you probably could have used the serial number to prove it was yours if you still have the box or had registered it on Club Nintendo. I'd keep your 3DS on you instead of in your bag from now on though.

Even if they had formatted it you probably could have used the serial number to prove it was yours if you still have the box or had registered it on Club Nintendo. I'd keep your 3DS on you instead of in your bag from now on though.
I can tell you this, I found the guy twitter on my 3DS's Internet Browser, which helped the cops find him.
Cannot believe this guy didn't even cover his tracks, he clearly talked about how he stole this 3DS with his friends, and now I have something to talk to my friends about.

Wow it's nice to see this had a happy ending in the end (well maybe not so happy for the jerk that stole it but he deserves that). You were lucky that you had an understanding Gamestop employee. I remember a similar case like that happened years ago to me with my GBA. Even after proving it was mine Gamestop refuse to give it back to me and I had to get the police involved . Which is one of the many reasons I hate Gamestop.

What I got out of this story was that you and ems are together. Never knew you guys even knew each other IRL much less were girlfriend and boyfriend. You learn something new every day I guess.
In any case ems was smart to have suggested that, and you were incredibly lucky.
