Topic: The Best Looking Video Game Consoles of All Time - includes TWO Nintendo systems!

Just had a browse on Kotaku, reading their Tri-Force Heroes review (which is a lot more truthful and thorough than most), and I stumbled upon this particular article about the best looking consoles of all time. Their list goes something like this:

SEGA Mark III (known as the SEGA Master System in the West)

Nintendo GameCube

ZX Spectrum

Sony PSX (only available in Japan)

Commodore SX-64

Panasonic 3D0

SEGA Dreamcast

Atari 2600

Nintendo Super Famicom/Super Nintendo

Sony PlayStation 4

Bearing in mind, this article excludes handhelds and is purely about the cosmetics side of things, not about how powerful the hardware is (or isn't).

I am quite fond of the rather tiny PSone myself, which is still boxed up in my loft:

Agree with this list? If not, what do you personally think is the best looking video game console?

Yeah, I only agree about the Gamecube and PS4. The rest look like a mashup of old Macintosh computers and car radios from the 90s.

I like small, square and preferably black boxes that you can slide into your TV cabinet and forget about. That's the ideal. From this list the only one that does that well is the PS4. The Wii was probably the first box to get it right, the Wii U doesn't really improve on it. The PS3 was close but the whole rounded thing made it stand out too much. The PS4 is an significant improvement. And the XBOne is close.... but looks a bit too much like a VCR for my liking.

Pretty much everything else doesn't rate. IMO. But again, this is all about taste so feel free to strongly disagree with me

Nope!

I never really cared for home console designs since most them look boxy, edgy or dull. The only consoles I'd say looks good design-wise are the Wii U (really like the long and curved design of the system.. even if it's still generic) and the cutesy PSone design. More consoles really need to look like those two, especially the latter.
EDIT: The PSone, not the PS1. Holy heck, the PS1's design.... just no.

The Gamecube...it calls to me.

My home console could look like a cereal box, as long as it plays the games I want, I don't care.

Nothing can beat the natural beauty of the 2DS though.

Besides the Dreamcast and PS4, these are all strong contenders for ugliest consoles of all time...

They look fine IRL. Better than the Wii(U).

The Wii U is a sleek, sexy little machine with rounded edges. That's what a games console should look like, not the hulking behemoths that say, Microsoft, likes to release to show of its American Muscle.

The 3DO looks great, thought that in the 90's and still do.

It really was ahead of its time in a lot of ways, wasn't it? Even aesthetically, it looks more like consoles that launched 10 years later.

come on. it's name is XBOX and it has a giant X on the top plus a nice green core. that looks awesome

The controllers on this are awesome as well. It fetches quite a price, but it's pretty useful if you mod it to play normal Amiga games.
Also, I've gotta disagree with @SpookyMeths on the topic of the Wii U... Mine (literally) attracts a crapload of dust, and that gets pretty annoying.

GameCube and Dreamcast both looked like toys... which I actually really like. Makes them very distinctive.

The PS4 is very sleek. And even though it's not on this list, the Wii U is an attractive looking console too.

I actually really love the design of the top-loader NES as well.
