Exactly the opposite. With a lightsaber like that many Jedis/Siths could keep their hands safe from other lightsabers

Yeah the prequels really aren't as bad as people want to make out. It's just because you judge things relatively. Relative to the originals, they're meaningless trash. But compared to other sci-fi in general (yes, I accept that Star Wars should be considered fantasy not sci-fi), they're pretty much average.

I thought the trailer was ok. I like that they're making a conscious effort to capture the look and feel of the originals. I hope someone's pointed out to Abrahams that for a series called Star Wars, the prequel trilogy didn't have many space battles.

Really? I thought it was a lot better than Attack of the Clones. Attack of the Clones felt, ironically, like a Disney film.

Actually, I'm not a big fan of episode 4. I actually put it tied with Episode 1 if I rank the Star Wars films. None of Episode 4's characters really stood out to me at all.

Attacks of the Clones also had the awesome battle between the Jedi and the Droid Army, the fight between Obi-Wan and Jango Fett, and like you said, the Yoda fight.

Honestly, I think Attack is a better movie then most people give it credit for. It's better than Phantom Menace. I thought the story was pretty good in Attack, with the only real issue being the awkward scenes with Anakin and Padame.

Otherwise, I enjoyed Attack of the Clones.

So I saw the teaser. Nice teaser! Here are a few things that stood out, spoiler alert:

Storm troopers are still around?
That black person with the Storm trooper outfit, is he a deserteur? Will he become a Jedi?
The girl is probably the daughter of Han Solo or Luke, as has been rumored
Funny "ball" R2DS cousin
A sith lightsaber, with 2 side-arms!
And of course the Millenium falcon and X-wings looking good!

As for Lightsabers: I think its cool that they come up with new types all the time. One of my favorites is one of the clone wars series. Its a very old one, maybe used by the very first Jedi's ages ago. Its black, and makes a very different sound!

"He's just a guy employed to hunt Jedi down. Appropriately, he has a heavily automated lightsaber that does work for him"

Based from the Rebels episodes I saw so far, he does have some "force" in him. Why else would he say: I can feel them. He felt Ezra and Kanaan because they are Jedi's (well, Ezra is in training). Besides, if the Inquisitor isn't a force-wielder, then he could just have chosen a laser-gun. One question though: Is the Inquisitor from the same race as that long and white-faced person from Episode 3? You know from that pit where Obi wan landed?

And I also heard Warwick Davis is back, so does that mean the Ewoks are back too?

I hope that Abrahams doesn't make the movie to shaky or busy. Maybe its my age, but the few scenes I saw from Star-trek looked very busy. Though cool, they where also very hard to follow for me. The same with some of the scenes from the Hobbit movies.

My overall feelings are "eh." Some cool shots of the new Stormtroopers, a cute volleyball-like droid, a weird new Lightsaber design, and the Falcon in a nauseating, roller-coaster-spin-type shot.

I remember Episode I's teaser definitely getting me hyped. Heck, ALL the Prequel teasers got me hyped.

Despite the (trendy) hatred towards the PT I still think they're all fun, entertaining films; and isn't that what Star Wars is all about? Feeling like a kid again and just enjoying yourself? Not nitpicking everything as a bitter "adult."

@Austroid,

I do like the prequels too. Yeah, the "romance" scenes may be a bit corny. And episode 2 was just silence before the storm (still a fun movie though). But Episode 3 may be the worst of the prequels because it has the most corny acting. But I admit, you never go to Starwars for very strong acting.

As someone who never watched the Star Wars films: meh. Not gonna write it off, but from this teaser, I don't understand anything about the plot or feel any more interested in it.

@Henmii Something I never understood was all the complaints about the "cheesy romance scenes" in Episode II. The Han/Leia romance scenes were just as cheesy, if not more so.

Same can be said for the acting as well; people act like Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher did Oscar-worthy performances or something. In reality they were no better than Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and Natalie Portman. I think they're all great, but nostalgia can truly blind people.

Funny enough, Episode III is my favorite film of the whole saga. I've always loved how it was the final piece of the puzzle that changes everything, and sets the stage for the tone of the OT.

Seems fine to me. I'm not a super big on Star Wars, but they've all been pretty fun films (the originals & the prequels are all about the same for me), and this'll probably be no different.

Now, the new trailer for Jurassic World on the other hand? That's a trailer I can nerd out over!

It got me pretty exited, though the wait will be even more unbearable now. The amount of people complaining about the new lightsaber design is ridiculous though, it's not a huge deal and it's not going to ruin the movie.

I don't know....I'd say Attack of the clones was the absolute worst. The Alien CG Cartoon Arena party and Robot factory scene towards the end of the film were just awful. I think Darth maul and the fact that they actually shot in real locations half of the time in episode 1 made it feel less artificial and green screened vs the II & III.

I agree, Episode II was the absolute lowest point in the saga. It felt like two separate movies glued together (Anakin/Padme's misadventures and Obi-Wan's spinoff) and lacked a grand finale that the rest have.

Episode I was better in all respects if you ask me.

Things look so worn out and rusted, gritty and old. Love it. That's what I think of when I think of Star Wars. Amazing to think what it will all look like next December. There's still 13 months of post-production with two of the world's best studios to happen.

And besides John Williams' score and some fantastic practical sets in Episode I, I really can't say anything good about the prequels. Hopefully this saga gets back on track after that 7-hour derailing.

Also, you all seem to not like the hilts on the new lightsaber, but how would you feel about a CHAINSAW lightsaber?!

What could feel more Disneyish than the gang's visit to the frickin' bad CGI mermaid kingdom in \"Menace\"?

Though I will fully agree ALL of the prequels suck. And yes: precisely because they completely fail to live up to their heritage. I don't give a love if per se, possibly, they make for some "okay" Hollywood action popcorn munchers or awesome DISNEY kids' movies or some other sh!t along those lines. They fail to be Star Wars and should be stripped of that title!

I hate Clones.

At least Phantom Menace had some characters who emoted. Literally everyone in Clones was a stoic robot except Anakin, who just acted creepy. Qui-Gon was a pretty strong protagonist, and you grew to like his bond with Obi-Wan as the story progresses.

As for the story, Clones makes virtually no sense. Politics wasn't fun in Phantom Menace, but I at least had some bearing over what was going on. In clones, someone made a clone army, and a separatist movie started, because movie.

Both of these combine to make the fight scenes just feel empty. It doesn't feel like there is any emotion or stakes. I barely understood who Count Dooku was, and Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship was strained to say the least.
