Don't mind the CGI, either. Just that, this being a Teaser, there isn't really much to tell from the finished movie. And yeah, that laser hilt... we'll see how that works out.

That laser hilt is typical for someone trying too hard to make stuff look bad-ass...
something I'd expect an average 12yo to cook up.
Painfully reminiscent of some prequels' design choices like "La Gondola".
It's impractical AND out-of-place. Just because there's some kind of swords involved, doesn't mean you've got to go full-circle on the Lancelots there! (Not to mention Star Wars was originally inspired by samurais and kendo fights in that respect anyway...)
My 2 favorite unique lightsabers are the Inquisitor's from SW: Rebels, and Darth Maul's from Phantom Menace. The former is awesome because it tells a lot of story in itself. The Inquisitor is not a Sith. He's not a Dark Jedi. He's just a guy employed to hunt Jedi down. Appropriately, he has a heavily automated lightsaber that does work for him.
Maul's just looked badass without being impractical.

Not sure about the practicability of Darth Mauls weapon though (Let alone my gripes with his super-cliched, one-dimensional character design as a whole... )
I mean, there's probably a good reason that — unlike with the original "simple" light sword — there's no real-world equivalent to that laser hilt design (A long sword with stilettos pointing outward from the hilt??). I'd assume the same goes for Mauly's lil' swaggery there. (There's similar battle sticks, sure, but they are dull on both ends, not sharp. For good reason?)
kinda disappointed. the lightsaber looks really bad. like @16_Million said.
the worst thing about the trailer is that it didnt feel like star wars to me. yes i saw a stormtrooper (or some dressed like that), yes i saw the millenium falcon, yes i saw a lightsaber (which sucked) but it didnt have the typical star wars vibe.

I wouldn't call Maul super-cliched or one dimensional. I'd call him a plot contrivance that's zero-dimensional.

No, I like Phantom Menace, and Sith is my favorite Star Wars movie (Though Attack of the Clones is probably the worst movie I've ever watched). But I know a bad character when I see one.
There's another character I feel the same way about from the original trilogy.
