That is one awesome ship, Machu. But what ship did you get that extra nacelle from? Was it Nebula class? I should know this one...

Thanks Starkiller. Spock is probably my favorite original series character. Whose your favorite characters ? Do you think we will ever get a new Trek series ?

We better get a new series, but then It'd probably end up like the last movie. Which wasn't at all bad, but very un-Star Trek like. Phlox has gotta be my favourite character, with Q close in second (I know I said Q was first before, but I changed my mind).

You ever watched any of the fan made Star Trek shows like Hidden Frontier, Exeter, New Voyages, Etc. ?

Ooh, yes I cannot wait for the story of how Machu lost a girlfriend over All Good Things. Do tell tomorrow.

DAMN YOU SYNTHEHOL! Why the hell did I reveal that? When will I learn?

Heh, it's too late now; start talkin'. I expect a tale worthy of All Good Things, including something that had to come to an end prematurely.

Also, lay off the synthehol. Guinan keeps some more authentic fare as well if you know how to ask for it

I was only 17 so I can't be held responsible, and I don't take pride in it.

The first part of the episode was aired on Sky1, which at the time was a free channel through cable. SkyTV, cleverly put part 2 of the episode on Sky2, which required subscription, which I didn't have. It was terrible having seen the first part, but not knowing if I could watch the conclusion the following week. Anyway, one evening whilst in the middle of some candle lit, massage oil based sexiness with my girlfriend, her younger brother (who was a Trekkie too) knocked on the door to inform me the 2nd part was on the telly (they had Sky2, omg!). I stopped, got dressed, and went and enjoyed the last ever episode of TNG with her little brother. Needless to say, the relationship ended a few days later, with her main reason being, the story I just told you. She proclaimed... "you love Star Trek more than me"

I feel ashamed now.

Wow... Machu, you are now the true king of Trek fans on this forum. You officially turned down sex (at 17 no less!) for Star Trek.

Well done.

In your defense, readers should remember that those were the days when you couldn't just later find the episode online; if you didn't catch that finale, you might not have had another chance to see it by any means for a year or more. My local station stopped playing reruns of the series right after the finale, so there was no TNG for years that I could access; imagine if I'd missed it!

Thanks, I think. :/

You are right, if I hadn't watched it then, I would have had to wait at least a year for them to go through TNG from the beginning again. There was no web, not one the public could access anyway. Still not sure if it justifies what I did though.

Good job the episode was of such high quality huh, or I would have regretted that decision forever. lol. omg I'm a dork. No more drunken posting, and no more honesty! OK Machu!

I believe the correct solution would have actually been to run back to the bedroom on the first commercial break and demand a lightning-fast quickie. You'd likely get slapped / broken up with even faster, but you'd preserve the proper balance of nerd and manliness for your tale.

This is probably the only thing i could think of that would've made that story more awesome. :3

I feel bad for you Machu, just shows the incredible power of a Star Trek two parter. That's one thing about the last two seasons of Enterprise that I liked, but hated at the same time.

Don't feel bad dude. It may have been the last episode, but it was definitely not the last gf. Plenty more fish in the sea. And warioswoods, I like your suggestion, but even I have limits.

So anyway, really glad I shared that with you all not, now onto to the episode itself. It was perfect in my eyes, the best series finale I have ever seen. It was action packed, jumping between time periods was really fun (especially seeing Data at Oxford), and it was really sentimental. Bless 'em.

I'm angry at the very existence of the last 2 lackluster TNG movie when I watch that final scene. Such a fantastic finish to the characters and the whole story, later destroyed by 2 films which pretty much left all the quality and intentions of the series behind. (The first 2 films were quite good, in my mind, but I'd rather they just left it after that, or perhaps followed with a film even half as good as All Good Things, no easy task to be sure).

Nemesis and Insurrection I struggled with, for sure. Especially what they did to Data, only to replace him with a dumb version moments later. My memories of those films are sketchy mind, having not watched them much. Generations was awesome, an excellent way for the baton to be passed. First Contact was in effect 'Best of Both Worlds, Part 3', but I loved it, especially James Cromwell as Zefram Cochrane.

Trekkies don't consider it a real Star Trek movie. While I thought it was good, I thought it was too focused on action and all that. Other trekkies completely hated it.
About Nemisis and Insurrection, they were disgraces. First Contact will always be the best after Wrath of Khan.

I want to love it, but minor details (that only a dorky trekkie would be bothered about) bother me. I'll still be there at the cinema on the release of the next one, desperate for awesome space battle eye candy, mmmm. And I'm also very intrigued to see where Abrams takes this alternate history/future/type thing.

Starkiller

I want to say the next one's gonna be great because of the fact that even-numbered ones are the best, but that rule has been broken since Nemisis.

Yeah, and it's too late for them to turn back since the last movie was such a success. sigh.
In other news, I'm watching In a Mirror, darkly part 2 tonight if I can turn away from this site to do my homework! (A surprisingly hard task.)
