There was a poll on GameFAQs a month or so ago asking this, but they had like a dozen answers... I had never even heard of some of them...much less imagine someone going out to get a "Fizzy Drink".
soda for me. that's because i consider myself edumahcated, though. i live in the South, so i get funny looks whenever i say "soda," and have been called a "yankee" because of it (something considered derogatory "in these here parts"). to almost everyone here, a carbonated soft drink is a "coke," regardless of color, taste, label, or producer. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Sprite, you name it... it's a "coke." drives me nuts.
anyway, it's soda.

Hey, true story. I went to a conference in America recently, and at the computer terminals, they split it up into different languages - so there was a section for the "Russian language," the "Chinese language," the "Japanese language," and "American language." At first I laughed because most of us call the language Americans speak as "English," but then I realised that it's appropriate, because you guys sure don't speak the way normal people do
@SuperPeach: Would you like a tall, frosty mug of bubble juice? >:3
Edit: You're right. That sounds awful... X3
Actually, it's more like, Feeling cold? Then get a hot, steamy load of bubble juice! It'll warm you to the core... ...and beyond. Yeah, that does sound gross. BTW, it's soda. Pop is what the bubbles in the soda do.
Pop. Doesn't seem to be a popular choice, i assumed everyone in North American called it pop, I appear to be wrong. However I do hear soda, and sodapop from time to time.
