Topic: So, I've Recently Discovered How Awesome Metallica Is...

Does anyone feel this way? I mean, this band is simply amazing! I'm not sure what it is about them, but I love the fact that almost all of their songs have a deeper meaning, while they all still sound awesome at the same time! Some of my favorite songs include Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Blackened, One, and BATTERY. What about you guys? (Bear with me, I'm new to this band... )

Saw them a few weeks ago. It was pretty good. I can't say I'm a fan of their new stuff though.

Give me the 1st 4 albums anyday, after that, nty. Black Album, while it is their most popular, isn't their best, load & reload, yuk. St. Anger, worst album I ever heard. Around that time, at the moment when they were on a show on Fuse called Uranium, being interview by Julia. Lars when asked about fans hating St. Anger said, & I quote, "Metal fans have no idea what's metal." I lost all respect for them.

From that moment on I decided that band will never get a penny from me. I await the day they either break up, or all die a horrible death in a plane crash, I don't care which.

St. Anger was horrible, but I don't think "Metal fans have no idea what's metal." is the problem, but that real good Metallica isn't just plain old metal. Metallica has more of a structure than most other metal does. And then there is the awesome riffs and stuff that St. Anger had none of. I have a friend who threw the CD in the garbage after listening to it; and he's a big fan of metal and Metallica.

The post-Black album Metallica stinks. Sort of like the post-Powerslave* album Iron Maiden stinks too.

*Live After Death rocks too.

I'm glad to see some Metallica love! I still love their stuff, both new (90s) and old. (I still haven't heard their most recent stuff, though.)

I grew up listening to Metallica and Black Sabbath.

I used to enjoy their stuff when I was going through my weird teenage phase. Now I can do without, I like mellow calm(er) stuff now.

Metallica rocks as long as you exclude St. Anger and Load. The new album was pretty much a return to form.

I respect Metallica, but never felt the need to own any of their albums. If I need my fix of 80s hard rock I will listen to Guns n' Roses or Ratt.

i think that out of the four main thrash metal bands, Slayer, Megadeth, Antherax and Metallica, Metallica is the worst. they sold out the hardest, got the softest and cried the most (see "some kind of monster" if you don't believe me).

@DJPhatskillz Oh man 'Some kind of monster' was funny as hell. All these supposedly tough metal dudes having therapy and bitchin with each other, LOL.
I do like Metallica's early stuff but after the black album I lost intrest. Still I've always time for a bit of 'Battery' or 'One' though

metallica are awesome i think 'one' is the best song. went to see em at sonisphere in the summer and they signed my arm wooooopppppp.

I like a few Metallica songs, but the're nothing special, just extremely overrated.

weren't Metallica the ones crying about napster and then selling out with a guitar hero game and only being able to buy thier album at walmart.

Nah, Megadeth has always been the worst. Anthrax is slightly below Metallica and Slayer, whom can duke it out for the top slot. The thing is, I can't really see Slayer as a thrash metal band. That's just opinion, but it seems wrong to put them in that genre.

They could have been the greatest band that ever lived, if they had all died in a horible plane crash straight after touring the black album. As it stands today, they suck. I have never seen a band sell out so much, or so fast. Yeah, enjoy those first 5 albums, pretend the rest didnt happen. Ignorance is bliss And Megadeth are fantastic BTW, I would hold them in much higher regard. Get yourself that that Rude Awakening live DVD.

Sad but True is one of the best songs of all time. Garage Inc is also a really good and very overlooked album from Metallica. If you want the best rock album ever look no farther than Metallica S/M. They play side by side with the San Fransico Symphony Orchestra and it turns out to be simply incredible. You have to get your hands on it.
