I just finished reading Hyrule Historia and the end of the book was a pretty epic manga, I highly recommand reading it.
Its essentially about the war between The Goddess and Demise that was explained at the very beginning of Skyword Sword.
It also explains how the sword caused the giant mass of land to raise into the heavens. Anyways the manga shows a more personal link, with a voice and a very fighter like style, showing him fight hordes of enemies and what not. And Hyrule Warriors shows link fighting hordes of enemies also, as well since the enemies he fights are in the skyword sword style, is would make sense for it to take place within that era. Granted Hyrule Warriors is suppose to be cannon and not a part of the actual timeline, I feel if the game is highly praised enough and enough people like it Nintendo Could fit it in, though in theory It would have to be before the events of skyword sword. The most noticeable feature that stands out is the neck like scarf link wears in both the game and the manga. It's a small touch sure. But never say never.
they've been subliminally brainwashing us to get this game all along!
and it worked. I want this game!

Not to mention the shoulder piece, both manga and the game have it, which link has never had in any other Zelda game to my knowledge. So its either based on the same events or the character model of HW was based off the manga link. But the Hyrule Warriors is gonna need a story so the manga one could fit quite well in my opinion, also could give the opportunity to try voice acting or text and other things within the Zelda Univerise without actually ruining the zelda franchise.
