Topic: Should Nintendo Drop The Family Focus?

When will Nintendo realize that having games like Mario Kart and Smash along with games like Bayonetta 2, Final Fantasy, GTA, etc on the same platform are a Nintendo's fan dream? NX needs to change things for the better. Its really quite embarrassing when Nintendo misses out on games that they deserve to get aka any JAPANESE GAME.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I think Nintendo needs to focus more on family and less on the lower ages. Kids aren't the only ones wanting games anymore and adults aren't looking for Wii Fit, they want real games. Nintendo should focus on all ages on more of their games. Make it complicated enough for the kids and simple enough to hold adults attention.

I feel like they've been trying to do that with the Wii U, but have been cautious.

I don't think Nintendo will drop the family focus. Nintendo just can't compete with Sony and Microsoft when it comes to hardcore games, but I do love the innovation and creativity Nintendo bring to games. It's that uniqueness that always makes me choose a Nintendo console first. I will always get a Playstation later down the line though so I don't miss out on other exclusive games.

Yeah, I guess it is just their advertising that they need to focus on all ages rather than the young.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Doesn't help the ad was for Yoshi's New Island.

To be fair, if that meant people bought a better game than Yoshi's New Island, I'm fine with this.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

Here's the thing.

  • Nintendo wants to focus to a wide audience.
  • Nintendo makes consoles that bring non-gamers to play games.
  • It works, so why remove that audience?

In my college, there was a pie chart that showed the casual gamers are higher than hardcore gamers. So in this case, Nintendo wins. I don't mind them being in this way as long as they do one thing......make games fun. If that is always there in their blood forever, I don't see the fault of the audience.

I sucked at the NES games. if GBA didn't have any saves, I'd probably get frustrated a lot. Today, games have changed for the worst. First who get the game are bound to be the ones to encounter bugs. You can't expect that same level of quality the same as the early trailers and lastly, developers are lazy which is what worries me because if the new CEO of Nintendo is like SEGA where money comes first rather than quality.......nintendoom, simple as that.

I don't care if Nintendo sticks to family market and I don't care what changes they do to their IP. As long as they make it fun and put a smile on my face, I'm ok with it. And I guess I have a soft spot for Sticker Star and Dark Moon because of that.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Words of wisdom right here. Nintendo needs to consider that a very large portion of their customers and fans are all grown up now.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
