Nintendo is the least connected to all social network sites. Facebook is all they have, and even then, the only support for facebook is uploading photos. You don't have to use that feature if you don't like facebook.

While I don't like much of facebooks privacy issues, it's not as bad as this article lays out. You can set just about everything in your profile to "only friends" and if you don't want friends to see certain albums or parts of your profile, you can set that. Also, the point of "liking" something is so people can see you like it. You can support groups many more meaningful ways than liking them on facebook, if you actually want to support them but don't want people to know you support them.

The one thing I don't like is how websites can track you (many, such as cnn.com show what your friends like, even if you've checked you don't want to share your information (they find you off of your friend's friendlists). Log off before going to any of those websites, if you don't want them "tracking" you. If you've blocked access to your profile, they, in theory, cant learn anything about you other than that you're friends with someone who hasn't blocked their site's access. Still a little disturbing, but it seems lots of people like it.

The same rules always apply for the internet. Don't put anything up their you wouldn't want your boss or grandmother to see.

What WaltzElf and Token Girl said is completely true. You can change your privacy settings if you want to, and you can hide almost everything in your profile from the outside world. Another thing...why would you ever want to become a fan of a page if you don't want people to know it? Isn't that one of the main goals of supporting something; that people know you support it?

I know not as bad, its just a thought. My sister made a bigger deal about it. She thinks facebook wants to take over the world, I tried to explain to her that this may not be as bad,as taking over the world. They have to go to a all new low, to actually get me mad.

At a lot of point FB sucks, but at time I can't help using FB connect on the DSi camera. I just wish it was myspace instead or it gave you a choice of sites to connect to.

Why MySpace? They completely blow. I wish FB would just buy them out.

MySpace: where you don't need privacy settings, because nobody can figure out what's on your profile between the black text on black background and blaring emo music.

The human population should ditch Facebook. I could tell you a very sad story about someone close to me, and the terrible effect Facebook had on their (and their families) life, but it's not my place to say. I'm sure this is just one of many many stories.

Yes, privacy settings have been increased, but Facebook and any hacker with half a brain can still get access to your life. If you want to share photo's and experiences with family and friends, why not just email them, instead of uploading it to a site that only increased it's security when it had to. Better safe than sorry, if you ask me.

Oh nonononono, bad Idea. You think it blows because you have to have Firefox to customize your profile?....The thing about myspace you can express yourself, I love th 2.0 profile all I have to do is, go to photobucket and color cordinate.

@TokenGirl LOL thats not all, don't forget the GIFs, images with inpirationals or goofy quotes, Playstation Network ID(I've seen some of those on MS) and the applications that can be a nightmare(once a friend of mines profile crashed my browser). I glad, I figured out that only a few is a good thing.

Yeah I know, because there is way to much complete families on facebook, here comes the drama. I'd said it: "facebook is probably the root of family drama these days?" I tweet that and for some reason the tweet dissapeared, thats really suspicious.

There's a nice idea somewhere behind facebook (which is the reason I joined) but it's overruled by its - generally - shallow users (I GOT SO WASTED LAST NITE LOL), commercialism and all the excessive fat (farmville/whatever). It's a bit sad that this is what the internet has come to (another popularity contest, let's see who can have the most friends and the hawtest pics) but that's what happens when something goes mainstream in today's society, I suppose.

At least it's easy to make fun of, as seen here, on IT Crowd and South Park.

Also, getting closer and closer to 1984, huh? Who needs privacy, amirite?

EDIT: Lol @ the irony above. Tweeting about facebook being bad for our social attitude.

I don't mind Twitter, it's completely different. No pictures, no details, just brain-farts.

edit: but yeah, it's just as shallow.

99% of tweets is either:

A) Unnoteworthy, uninteresting and/or unoriginal and an even more extreme version of Facebook's lame status updates.
or
B) Genuiely interesting announcements/remarks (usually by official companies) that should've been put on a website/blog instead.

Are people really that interested in what others are doing at all times? Or is it just me that doesn't give a flying you-know-what.

I use Facebook but I don't put anything on there that I don't have a problem with the whole world seeing, I don't do status's and I certainly don't do apps.

I have had it demonstrated to me just how easy it is to access a private Facebook account. Another thing you should be wary of is posting a image from facebook to another site without changing the file name. The file name that facebook automatically gives images contains all the details about your profile and is a easy back door into your profile for hackers.

Another thing I have seen happening is people posting 'private' pictures of varying descriptions elsewhere on the internet, only for someone to hack their facebook profile and send said pictures to all their friends and family.

Be wise on the internet people.

Thats you. But I find twitter a great way to stay in touch with people. And your right about the tweets, and that is what Twitter is for. What may seem pointless for you isnt for others.

No, Firefox has nothing to do with it. I already use Firefox man(death to IE!). MySpace sucks because it's slow, cumbersome and outdated. There's just really nothing good I can say about it these days. I could care less about animated GIFs, pretty backgrounds or whatever other silly decorations MySpace has for their profiles. That crap has NOTHING to do with actual social networking. While MySpace pioneered the whole social networking phenom, Facebook has clearly surpassed them in every respect. Plus that evil right-wing mogal Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace. All the more reason to not use the site.
