Well, i was wondering this.... I love shoot-em-ups. I love making sprites...i love makign little games sometimes. ... SHOULD I MAKE A LITTLE SHOOT-EM-UP FOR PC? I already have a tiny engine with player movements and little waves.... think i should make one game out of it?
Well, this is a signature from someone, it says stuff, and you're reading it.
Make a game where you're Dr. Octananugapus and you have to Shoop da Whoop cheezeburgers.
Wost idea ever. Even worse than longcat and the Numa-Numa guy doing the caramelldansen to a techno song comprised of "This is Sparta!" and "It's over 9000!". My point is memes aren't funny. Escpecially when used on TV and in Games.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@Meff - of course you should! If I may be so bold as to ask, what are you planning on using for the actual coding? Depending on how deep you want to make your shoot em up, there are plenty of options to consider.
MMF2 (Multimedia Fusion 2) is a decent middleware-ey platform; Game Creator is nice too, if you want to make a presentable non-Flash-y game without spending a million years coding. Java isn't the world's most difficult either although it's much more straight-coding than either of the above. Regardless, it's a definite yes! My biggest hurdle is my graphical ability.
Here's a youtube (not the greatest quality) of something I finished a couple weeks ago and touched up/taped w/ iPhone today. Forgive my incessant 3:00am-tired narration

Actualy, i am using a program called Game Maker ( great name, huh? ). It's not half bad and very easy to use. It even has a sprite editor in it. But like, real programing, i have never tired unfortunatly... the reason of that is that first, i don't have money, and second, i dunno how. Any recomendations?
