Topic: Should I get iPod Nano (6th Gen)?

I have a Zune (4Gig) and love it. Had it for 4 years. But now I want to upgrade.

I'm not looking to get an iPod Touch, rather a small MP3 player good for exercising. Not that my Zune is a pain to take around (it's nice and portable) but 4gigs can carry so much and although I never had a problem with filling it up with songs (I don't have many), it's safer to have more space, I suppose.

As for video, I had a few on my Zune and have enjoyed watching Hey Arnold but it's not something 'big' for me. I'll have a 3DS for portable video watching if I ever wanted to do that. Thing I like about the new Nano is it's portability. Though the video and camera removal is lame (considering it's PRICED the same as the superior 5th Gen Nano), it's not really a necessity in my MP3 players. I'm thinking about getting the 16gigs as it's only $30 more than the 8gigs anyways.

So, for those of you who DO have it, is it worth it? I've seen how it works and it kinda reminds me of the Zune's navigation somewhat, something I've liked.

Just a little correction, the 5g nano only had video capabilities, no picture taking or anything.

And if you want one then go for it. I don't have one but I assume it works like most MP3 players, so it should play your music fine

I kinda wondered how the touch screen was on that little thing though, if it's as good as the iTouch's

Personally, if I had an MP3 player that worked fine, I wouldn't switch until it breaks and/or dies.

Well if he wants it ya know. I'm actually the same way, I wouldn't get a new one unless I needed more space or it breaks like you said.

Uhm... But.. It does have a camera... For recording videos.. But yeah, might as well go for it. Who knows what the next Nano may end up being...

Not yet. Come September we'll see. So technically, they DID make the 7th Generation and it's coming out this year. Oh, and they even made the 8th and 9th.

i like my 6th gen nano. it's so tiny it can fit just about anywhere without me worrying about breaking it, the touchscreen works quite well/it's easy to use, and it can hold a buttload of music. i've also gotten some good use out of the pedometer, and i like how it's integrated with iTunes; it makes syncing music/playlists over so much easier.

then again, i haven't ever had a nice MP3 player before, only crappy off-brand ones, so ymmv. :3

TDB knows what's up. I like my 6th gen a lot too. Esay to navigate, super tiny and easy to just have wherever I go. I was a little concerned about the clip built into it at first, but I use it almost every day when I go running and I haven't had a single problem with it. It's great for exercising, and the added pedometer feature is pretty cool to, though I always forget to check it after a run

@Besen: lol, i've left my pedometer on overnight on accident a few times... i've also left the damn nano clipped to my shoulder overnight on accident more than a few times too. it's a sturdy little thing, i'll definitely give it props for that :3

Personally, I would get something that doesn't require iTunes... But that is because a bunch of people between my friends, family, and myself have had trouble with iTunes... Yeah, I despise it.
Use capital I stupid Apple.

@Ravage While iTunes is a big fat stupid memory hog, it is a pretty nice program when running on a computer that can handle it well enough.

That being said, you can manage an iPod using Winamp as well. You can't access the iTunes store with it, but if you already have the music that you want in mp3 format, then Winamp will work just fine.

I got one for Christmas, and I love it. I also am glad about their decision to remove the camera and video player. I've always felt like the Nano should focus on music, because that's what iPods were made for. The touchscreen is easy to use, and its battery life is great. It also has a built-in radio.

TL;DR: Great music player, I highly recommend it.

I have a 6th gen Nano myself. It's actually my first real MP3 player though, so idk how it stacks up to anything, but it's really slick and the iPod/iTunes team-up is easy to use, so yeah.

And it's pink but I don't think that has any bearing on anything.

@Rift I completely forgot about the radio tuner! I just got excited for baseball season to start all over again!

It was the software, it would randomly erase things and got really annoying for me. Also had a friend that lost all of his music on his computer and only left the stuff on his iPod. Stuff like that, but this was a few years ago. Now only a few small things annoy me about it. But I avoid it like the plague

My reaction when the 6th gen nano came out was to immediately buy a 5th gen nano, because I was so horrified by what they'd done to it.

Actually the touch screen is quite good but my sister isn't happy with the fact that you can't play videos on it and that includes the inability to play music videos. However, some people on various sites and forums are saying you can hack it and then it will play videos but then that would just void the warranty of your little iPod Nano 6g.
