Topic: Shiny Pokemon Stories (your first encounter with a shiny 'mon)

@anthony12: Two things:

(a) When you post a thread here at Nintendo Life, it becomes the property of the community at large. It's not a thing for you to 'own', it's a place for users to have a discussion, and if the thread you've created is somehow against our Community Rules or if you make it do things that are against our Community Rules, it may wind up subject to locking. I would advise you to not take things personally if they don't pan out the way you'd like in a thread you create.

(b) your little 'bumps' are against our Community Rules (the one regarding posting constructively as opposed to wasting our server space). thread-bumps do annoy our users, as you've been advised, and they waste space in a thread. If you genuinely have something to add after a day or two has passed, great, but posting a nonsense 'don't let the thread die!' or the other comments along those lines every few hours as you panic is not kosher. I had thought you would've gotten the hint after I'd deleted a few, but I suppose not.

please, If no one has anything to add to a thread you've posted in (any thread, not just one you've created) and you were the last to post, give it a few days before adding something else. If still no one has anything to add, perhaps it's time to join an active conversation.

Shiny Magikarp on pokemon Sapphire and I remember exactly what I said when I saw it, "ewwwww!!!!! This Magikarp is a freak!" and I caught it and then let it go because at that time I thought shiny pokemon were freaks of nature was it wrong of me to think that way? Nowadays I still don't like shiny pokemon I don't like that they sparkle when u release them and the alternate color scheme is usually terrible but I keep them since I now know they are rare.

I never encountered a shiny pokemon until Pokemon White. I remember how surprised I was when I saw the purple heracross. Fortunately I caught it and it became one of the best pokes on my team. The only thing I didn't like is that it was a female. Certain pokemon I like being males and others I like being females. That's normal, right?

I'm like that also. Not sure if I'm being sexist or not, but some Pokemon just seem to be more "fit" to be a male or female..

Exactly. Machamp = male. Chansey = female. And so on.

Lol. I remember that digemon. Anyway I have not yet gotten another shiny pokemon, it's been a few months. I have hatched over 200 non shiny rotoms, hopefully a shiny hatches soon. Oh and is your avatar you stepping on lordjumpmad?

I remember I saw a shiny Wurmple on Emerald. I was eight, and I didn't know it was rare or anything, so I killed it ;_;

I recently found a new shiny. I was playing black and just started it up. I was on route 3 hatching rotom eggs and accidentally biked into the grass and a shiny yanma appeared! All i had was a level 57 magmar so it was tough to weaken but i eventually caught it

My first shiny was a scatterbug it was seriously the third pokemon I found in pokemon Y and I caught it with a poke all it's now sitting in my PC as a shiny polar vivillon because it's too poopylame to be used in my party.

Besides the Gyarados in the Lake of Rage I've never encountered a shiny so I'm on a quest to find, and capture as many shiny Pokémon as possible.
