I thought that it could be nice to discover singers or bands that we never heard of because we lived in different countries and by essence, we don't have the chance to know them.
I personally love music and I listen music coming from several place in the world.
Perhaps we could share something that deserves to be share because that's a great way to improve our musical knowledge.
The only rule is to share a song from the country you're coming from.
Whatever is the year or the genre of the song.
So, if you like the idea, go ahead let's us discover something from your culture.
This is one of my favourites. It is called Bir Çaresi Bulunur by Sertab Erener. Translating poetry/music to another language can tend to get quite awkward as the essence of the meaning is all too often lost in translation, but the heart of the song tends to resonance regardless of one's comprehension of its words.
The title means to the effect of "We Shall Find A Solution", in context, referring to a tribulation.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
Cool idea! I also really like most of the songs listed here.
In my country rap is really popular, but not everyone likes it. This is the last mainstream Dutch hit:
Golden Earring is a dutch rockband, one of the few songs originating from the Netherlands that I really like:
Look up the original clip if you want, but this a longer version with better quality. Radar Love and When the Lady Smiles are also worth checking out.
@Pluto14 I normally don't like dutch lyrics but that one is quite goed
@Cobalt : Yes it is. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. .
I like The Cure and the like, but I detest Turkish rock with a passion, at least that which emulates past successes too closely. It's a genre that they far too often than not get horribly wrong, and even if it happens to be somewhat decent, it still pales in comparison to overseas artists.
One rare example of good a particularly good and well known Turkish rock artist is Şebnem Ferah, whose style is more akin to that of symphonic rock acts such as Within Temptation.
This is one of her most popular and best-known songs, Sil Baştan (Begin Anew).
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
Couldn't help but add this, since it is Dutch, a dialect called "Achterhoeks". I live in the US now, but grew up in the Netherlands, so I figured I'd add (yet another?) Dutch artist. My wife is actually amazed at the number of dialects which can be found in the Netherlands, she figured it'd be Dutch all over

@Cobalt
It is Adriano Celentano after all. Yep, everyone, that singer thought of making a song in English-sounding gibberish (much like the Mario & Luigi RPGs have the brother talking in Italian sounding gibberish) and ran with the idea.
For the record, "ol rait!" is the Italian pronounciation of "all right".
I don't quite have lots o' loot, because I'm from the Boot.
@AlexSora89 Well, people better NOT ask me. I like some Italian artists, but I am by no means an expert on the topic. I will agree on Italian culture being somewhat double-sided, though. Most clear in how ambiguous the whole male-female culture is. Italians LOVE their women, but at the same time, they can also be... shall we say, quite archaic in their perceptions of how certain things "should" be.
The nicest example I can come up with, both to not offend anyone or risk and edit of a mod, is an Italian saying, that translates to: "women should be like the stars: appear in the evening, and be gone by the morning". Other sayings are considerably more offensive, and I suppose you'll know plenty of them.
As far as music from my country goes: I am an American living in Amsterdam. You tell me what "my country" is...
