Because this Topic had to be made.

As the title suggests, this thread is meant to be a haven for Sega's franchises, including Sonic, as well as for discussion of all things SEGA.

SEGA is my second favorite video game company of all time. They really know how to crank out good games.

I wonder if SEGA will ever bring Phantasy Star Online to the Wii like they did with the DS?

That'd make my day.

Just for you.

So, would anyone else be excited if SEGA announced a new Streets of Rage for all consoles? SoR is the best!

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Gotta keep this sucka' alive, at least 'till Shadx gets here

Yeah, Sega is probably my 2nd favorite Publisher/developer ever(Capcom beats all, but that's for another thread). They make a lot of good games, and aren't afraid to experiment with their franchises. The Sonic Franchise is an all-time favorite franchise of mine, and I've enjoyed most of the 30+ games I've played in it(Thank G-d they make so many compilations ).

Unfortunately, while I did have a Sega Genesis for a while, I didn't play that many games on it, and asside from playing the Dreamcast and a Genny that both belonged to my friend's uncle, I never really got a whole lot of other experience with other SEGA consoles, and therefore a lot of their franchises. Most the experience I did get was with Sega's Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox games, many of which were among my favorite games on those consoles, period. Not to mention I got to experience a lot of classics through Sega's many compilations.

Anywho, asside from Sonic, I also greatly enjoyed the Shinobi series, The Streets of Rage series and the Vector Man games - both of which are childhood favorites of mine - Super Hang-on, both Gunstar Heroes games, Outrun 2, Space Channel 5, and Panzer Dragoon Orta, just to name a few.

Oh jeez, I forgot about Ristar, and Comix Zone, too. Great games, though I never managed to finish either of them, and Ristar definitely needs a sequel.

Was ChuChu Rocket every Ported to anything besides the GBA? It looks really fun, but I think I'd prefer to have all or most of the content the Dreamcast version had without having to get a Dreamcast.

I'm a big SEGA fan, right since the Master System, I also rate Outrun as my favourite ever game and Sonic (on the Megadrive) is up there too. The Saturn (if you could import) and Dreamcast were also great, Rez, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio - spent hours on those games.
I shifted to the Game Cube after...
Would also say, am really enjoying Sonic and Sega racing at the moment - hearing the original House of the Dead music whilst racing through Curian mansion as Ryo Hazuki is pretty fun

I always loved the old commercials like this one that made the Super Nintendo look like a slow piece of dog s&%^. The "Genesis does what Nintendon't" commercial was great too. I wish console companies still made commercials with agressive marketing like the ones I mentioned.

Re commercial 1 -
Ha, I wondered where I had heard 'blast processing', perhaps they didn't dare try that one in sloooow 50hz regions. The music when the SNES representative car scoots off is funny! Must have fuelled a thousand playground rows!

Excuse this quality of this one but here was one of my favourite UK adverts at the time:

As much as I ridicule the company for their poor business practices that lead to their downfall and poor quality of their recent games, I will say that they made a lot of great games in their prime. Since I didn't start gaming until the late '90s, and played Sony and Nintendo systems at the time, my first Sega game didn't come until Super Monkey Ball on the Gamecube. Though I've played many of their classics through collections and arcades. I hope that Sonic 4 will help earn back at least some of the company's dignity.

Up until Sonic Unleashed, I've loved just about everything Sonic's put out (except for Secret Rings and Black Knight, yuck). But Sonic 4 is just SEGA giving up, because it's so much easier to take an old game, put a fresh coat of paint on it, and pretend it's something new (New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Street Fighter IV, etc...). I just hope that someday, SEGA stops listening to the fans, and starts creating classics like Sonic '06 and Sonic Adventure 2 again! People will complain, but it's for their own good.

Phantasy Star Online is IMO the best that came out of SEGAs doors.
Though I do love everything about SEGA, Phantasy Star Online beats them all.

What's the difference between Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Online, if you know? I loved Universe, to tell ya the truth - it was the first 'fun' MMO I ever played, and I didn't even play it with anybody else.

Have you ever played the DS game? That's supposedly more like PSO on the go, with a storyline added in, though I always thought it was a port of PSU, like the Phantasy Star Portable on the PSP was.
