RUMOR: PhoenixSage Thinks of Leaving NintendoLife

I think this is about as likely.

Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

If Miyamoto leaves Nintendo, Nintendo will be in big trouble.

Miyamoto will never leave Nintendo for another gaming company, he has Wii runing through his veins and his brain runs on Mode 7. The only reason he will leave as rightly stated earlier is due to him retiring when he feels he is too old, although I can still see Nintendo giving him the odd phone call then to run a few ideas past him.

ItsFuzzyPickles

I personally like the direction that Nintendo is going and I have yet to see them disrespect the core gamers, but I can see why he wants to retire. He has been working at Nintendo for over thirty years and I believe he's ready to retire. It would suck, but I can bear it. At least he would die in peace unlike Walt Disney.

However, I can see quality declining when he leaves Nintendo. Which means I'm really going to need a Playstation 3 if and when this starts to happen.

But I doubt this article is true.

Reala

I bring you a special Reala report, Realas sources tell Reala, that Microsoft has offered Miyamoto a huge contract to head Rare, in hopes of turning it around, and bring much needed knowledge to crack the casual market, which is why he will be leaving Nintendo, stay tuned for further updates

Other just-as-likely rumors:

Nintendo bows out of games industry, gives Wii rights to Phillips

Phillips makes Wii2, launches with Link: Faces of Evil DX

He wouldn't really be climbing down, he would just stop building.

And I don't think many changes will happen to Nintendo if this is true.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Adam

Obviously untrue, but I wouldn't care one bit if it were. NSMB is the first good game he's been in charge of since the SNES. Nintendo needs to let its directors out of his shadow. No other company that size has so few recognizable names attached to it.

We must stop this... QUICK! Someone call Michael Bay and Bruce Willis, we'll get together a band of roughnecks and go drill a hole somewhere and drop nukes!

Good point Adam, it is a possibility that because Miyamoto takes all the spotlight at Nintendo that this could possibly be affecting other creative forces at Nintendo. I would like to think Nintendo are more than a one man trick and although you can't deny the great things Miyamoto has done for the company I would like to think his creativity and ethos would be engrained enough into the people he works with that they could carry the torch when Miyamoto inevitably does step aside.

sonic_brawler95

That doesn't make sense now does it. Wasn't Miyamoto the one who wanted to focus on casual gamers in the first place?

Stevie, Miyamoto has undeniably done great things for the company back in the day. But I don't know that I care for anything he's been involved with since the jump to 3D, personally (at least not to the same degree), and those games that have turned out well, I question how involved he actually was in that ambiguous "producer" role that doesn't specify any degree of involvement, not to mention how many games he is supposedly "producing" at any given time. It strains the imagination to picture him as really running the show for all the games his name is attached to. The directors at Nintendo when given a rare interview often give the impression of being afraid to disagree with him, which is a terrible thing (if true) for creative work. This is all my own speculation / opinion, of course.
