I bought Sands of Destruction on eBay recently. When it arrived, I found that there was a lot of glue residue on the plastic of the case ("like new", my butt!). Anyway, does anyone have suggestions for something that will do a good job of removing the glue without damaging the plastic?
In Australia I'd use eucalyptus oil, as that did a great job. However, (for obvious reasons) it doesn't seem to be easily available in the USA. If possible, something that I might have lying around the house would be good.
do you not use olive oil in your home? or you could also try rubbing alcohol, depending on what type of glue we're talking about...

Hmm, I'd never been told that olive oil was good for that sort of thing. I've only ever used it in food!
My only problem with oils (including eucalyptus) is that, being oils, they don't evaporate and you therefore have to really careful to clean it all up. Otherwise you run the risk of oil getting on paper inlays etc. which can really wreck them.
Thanks for the rubbing alcohol suggestion. It looks like I can get some for a couple of bucks, so I might try that.
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
bio-ethanol is very cheap and works just as well, also with felt tip marker writing etc. Just dont use it to clean the label as it will also remove printed ink quite easily !

If you have some around the house Zippo lighter fluid works great at removing glue. Just pour a little on a cloth and wipe way. Than when your done just use a wet cloth with water to wipe away any traces of the lighter fluid.

@Wheels: With rubbing alcohol and some glues (like sticker glues) you need to soak the glue-y area with it, and then it comes off quite easily.
that said, for all cleaning intents and purposes, clear oil is oil is oil. you probably could've used baby oil if you had any (though olive oil is usually more common in a house nowadays i think) or potpourri/fragrance oil (but that'd be a pain to clean up, and your game box would be perma-scented lol) and it would've had the same effect. :3
