I'm sure most of you have experienced times when you felt like an alien parasite was eating you alive from the inside out; I get that feeling a little too often yay for anxiety issues

Since NLife is a pretty supportive community and stuff, I decided to go ahead and make this thread. This isn't a thread about rambling or going insane. This is about sharing ways you, the community, relax.

So then, what do you guys do to relieve the stress in general?

These are some things I do:
-Sit on a rocking chair and rock back and forth
-Throw a tennis ball repeatedly against a wall
-Squeezing something squishy
-Just go and isolate myself from other people
-Playing a game

I usually have to do this daily, as I get stressed out quite easily, sometimes over simple things such as talking to a store employee..

Don't think I've ever had that feeling you described. lol

Thankfully I never get stressed out. It would be pretty hard to follow my career track for someone that was stressed regularly. Once you're responsible for very important things on a regular basis, you get accustomed to it.

The closest thing I do for a 'stress reliever' is probably drink. But that's not really due to a need to liberate myself from stress, its just fun to drink. lol

i usually chill out and draw something if i'm feeling stressed. good ol' Machu introduced me to Mixcloud years ago but I never really started getting into it until this past year — now i generally queue up something from the Ambient, Trance, or World categories while i'm drawing. Mellow beats help.

As a guy that suffers from severe stress and anxiety, I find that the best way to deal with it is to talk to somebody about it. Like in the real world. I've found that no matter how hard I tried, people from the internet just weren't going to help me at all.

@theblackdragon While I agree wholeheartedly, real people aren't always there. I'm not saying to value Internet people over real people, but they're still a good outlet for tossing around a conversation or two occasionally. :3

I practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). Started about six or seven years ago. My life has improved quite a bit since I started. It not only helped me with my stress and anxiety, but staying focused and achieving goals in general.

Sounds stressful.

You don't have anyone you can regularly confide to? Pick a girl you're friends with, they generally don't mind listening about other people's problems.
though they're also usually more than willing to share their problems as well so you'd have to be cool with that lol

A) Don't know where
B) I hear they're really unstable, and falling over is a thing.

You just need to set it properly and the chances of falling over are greatly reduced. It also helps if you don't use it as a super powerful swinging toy.

You should be able to find them in most markets, specially now that it's summer.

Just get a good sturdy hammock, a good spot between two pillars or walls or trees to set it and some strong metal chains or something to keep it in place and you'll have a new favorite place.

Most of my friends are girls, so I'm more than used to that.

Exercise (outside) regularly and stick to a regular sleep schedule. This won't fix any problems but will generally give you a healthy and positive outlook that may enable you to tackle your problems with a clear and focused mind.

Not that I've looked at many other ways to relieve stress, but the most effective way is just chatting with someone about it. If you can't find someone to chat with locally, you can just use chatzy and ask ONE OF YOUR ONLINE FRIENDS (THAT INCLUDES ME) to come chat with you. Take it from me, you'll feel a lot better once you've vented with someone.

Well there you go. Unfortunately I can't be on either end of the spectrum. I don't complain, and I'm one of those people that when I hear other people complain, I tell them how trivial their complaints are in comparison to others. Which usually just makes them even more upset.

But seriously, there are people out there that don't know when their next meal will come and are suffering debilitating diseases without medical care. I can never put my problems in comparison to those, therefore I never really get upset about anything.

I am the same way! I either tell them that they cause their own problems, that their problems are insignificant, or both. I have started warning people to not ask me to listen to their issues if they are just looking for a pity party.

Yep same here. I can see where the logic runs into issues - ie. if someone loses their home, why shouldn't they be upset because someone already didn't have one - but generally it works and it keeps me going without ever feeling down.

I also admittedly haven't gotten through any great struggles so that probably makes me less empathetic. I'm a believer in that people are generally (of course not always) responsible for their problems so if something doesn't go my way, I simply find a way to circumvent the issue and expect others to do the same.
