Seem to be lacking quite a lot. I can not tell if this is a good or bad thing. I feel recoil in shooters should be increased just because i find it would increase the spontaneity of the action and feel more immersive...I dunno why ive always thought the rare to no recoil in many popular shooters today hurts the randomness and satisfaction of the battle in the shooter. I bet everyone disagrees with this...but i'm just saying...
edit im not a guns expert, so maybe today's modern guns dont have a lot of recoil. I wouldn't know. I always just thought they had a lot haha.
as long as you don't have alzheimer's, guns will typically stay in one general area, so most modern shooters have the recoil down in automatic weapons. With handguns, however, all the shooters I've ever played show the recoil of the gun visually, but the crosshairs remain in exactly the same position as before for the next shot, which is ridiculous
Did someone mention guns!? It drew me in like a moth to a flame.
The question has already been pretty much answered, but many titles take recoil into account, especially the FPS genre. Most assault rifles today do have at least some recoil which can be countered by a grip or recoil buffer, amongst other things.
The better developers spend extensive time testing the weapons they put into games and they for the most part get them right, excluding some compromises made for gameplay balance.

It doesn't matter that a soldier can handle the recoil because isn't the player supposed to be the soldier? Soldiers compensate for it, it doesn't mean it's not there. I definitely don't think it needs to be a part of every game but there's definitely room for more realism without losing playability.
I love it when they put recoil into a game, makes it feel a bit more strategic.

@thefox thx, seems you know quite a bit about this haha
@ravage i agree, i mainly think of modern warfare 2 when i say this because as a sniper i find it ridiculous being killed by an SMG that is pratically being shot full auto and finding my guys body from across the map. It almost makes sniper rifles seem irrelevant but i still love em haha... boooolltt...actttioooon

@Slapshot Lol! Those vids gave me a good laugh. Every time I go to the range I see people pick up the biggest gun and say they can handle it. The result is usually....that.

@kanrakus that's my point, there is little to no recoil in todays fpses haha, which is kinda lame i think especially for snipers who want a fair shot....then again, we can realistically do 360 no scopes either realistically....so i guess things are the way they are for a reason
@slapshot that first video reminds why i should never end a video before it ends, that last 2 second clip made me laugh a lot
@fox were you in the military at one point? or is the range not for golf when you think of one i have no shooting range anywhere near me that i know of xD

haha, I don't know about Canada, but here in the US there are shooting ranges everywhere. Where I live in Kentucky in the middle of nowhere, though, we just shoot a lot out on our property.
I don't know what you're all talking about. Every FPS I've played has had recoil. And you can't exactly expect it to shoot the crosshairs up 2 inches of the screen. It's not exactly difficult for a trained soldier or even someone who just has SOME experience with guns to keep a gun aiming at one spot.
@Modern Legend Nope, never been in the military, although most of friends are. I have a shooting range about four blocks from where I live and it's a fun way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon. Like Grensworths Hero mentioned, there are also plenty of opportunities to shoot if you go outside city limits.
@ModernLegend.... lol really, that last clip is hilarious. The second vid is just because the handgun/scope combo is cool and the chick is super cute
Just for the record. My rocking Red Ryder BB Gun is the stuff! Recoils like a beast as well. I can take down a squirrel off a power line running full speed blindfolded and with one arm tied behind my back at a PETA riot rally!
