So "transformation" automatically denotes negativity? Someone tell Michael Bay! And the butterflies!

I bought a Wii U a few months ago after selling my PS4 and a few games on craigslist. I think the reason I became tired of the PS4 is the fact that almost every game I had to choose from was either a racing game, a stale action RPG/Stealth knockoff or of course, an FPS. "Third party support" is a shady term now due to underhanded tactics and back-door exclusivity deals. I feel the big multiplatform developers have begun to view their projects less as an art medium or craft and more like commodities. Often times mutiplatform content is used as leverage with Sony and Microsoft, with the end result being unfair advantages for one party and a less complete product for the other. The rift between each side divides the video game community, fostering contempt. There's no way alienating half the people who bought your product is healthy for the community.

Political and corporate agendas have skewed our perceptions of what it truly means to play video games; what it truly means to make them. What was once an open playing-field is becoming an elitist power-struggle amongst megalomaniacs. Owing no doubt to the pressures of hefty design budgets and marketing, smaller studios can't keep up and are inevitably swallowed up or fade out. So much is invested into "AAA" title development that the developers hands are often tied up by restrictive risk prevention. This intentional stifling of creativity freedom is made evident when new installments in a big series never leave the comfort of predictability (i.e. Assassin's Creed, Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty etc.)

The competition might be fierce between Microsoft and Sony, yet the same is true of multiplatform developers. This generally causes more focus to be placed upon tried and true, low-risk projects that look good but are recycled regularly. I don't feel like there is enough incentive for me to conform to the industry trends of shameless rehashing and the implementation of stagnated approaches to design.

Nintendo makes games like it's natural, thanks in part to the intuitive methods of Miyamoto-san, a true visionary a man who is not afraid of risk. I buy Nintendo games because I desire satisfation and a sense of accomplishment that worn out templates and beautiful facades cannot provide.
Transform" and "evolve" are similar concepts and the context in which you used them was just vague enough to border on semantics. I understand the author's angle but it seems as if many people simply enjoy administering prejudice at will and Nintendo can't contend with a legion of half-informed hate-mongers so they ignore them and continue on the path to their vision.

At E3 Nintendo announced some exciting and polished games and people seemed cool at first until Reggie introduced Metroid Prime Federation Force and people tripped out as if the idea of experiencing the Metroid universe from a different perspective was true blasphemy. The proof is in the pudding as to how good the game will be. The fact that I'm playing as a different type of Arm Cannon-wielding Exo-Suit in a game world in which I am already comfortable will have no bearing on how the game feels and as to whether or not it stays true to it's lineage. Not all transformations are good or bad. Some are just different...

Sorry for ranting but I couldn't hold it!

I have faith in Nintendo.

Ya know, the series is called "METROID" not "SAMUS."

1. The Metroid series died with it's creator and ever game after that is unofficial. I was even lost by the whole entire story of "Prime".

2. Nintendo ( I just learned ) shot down an Mario game made in Unity. In fact the game was better then there own. Shows how little investment to make an Mario game that is fun.

3. Stop focusing on the term "AAA" titles. In my opinion you should have just abandon Nintendo all together and just make an supped up PC, and focus on things made by the little people "Me and you". That is what the real gaming is about. The little people. Back in 2000-2007 it was about importing titles. Nowadays it is about checking out stuff made by each other.

Lol Fair points there m8! Myself, I have a decent gaming computer I buit for about $1000 bucks last winter but I don't game-out on it really, except for CS:GO and BF4. I have always preffered Nintendos games, the power of the console itself is not very significant to me as I have more fun even now playing my NESSNES/N64 than I feel I ever could with a mouse and keyboard, though I do love the occasional FPS.

Thanks for replying!
