I think they should:

Buy platinum games, have them do a new star fox (if retro isn't already)
Continue the partnership with sega, maybe get a few of their other IPs as exclusives
Form partnership with capcom (like with sega) to get some exclusive megaman games
Have sega amusement vision develop new f-zero game
Put megaman in super smash bros 4
Better advertising for the Wii U, it's dumb that people still don't know it's the successor to wii
Buy back Rare from microsoft, have them do casual party games, then hand their IPs over to another nintendo subsidiary (like retro studios)
Convince square-enix to do exclusive final fantasy or kingdom hearts
Price drop for Wii U, $225 for basic $275 for deluxe

Nintendo doesn't have to be on top to have a succesful console. Honestly, they have nothing to prove. The titles are coming that will light up the Ninty fanbase.

Buying back all of Rare doesn't sound right. Now just taking the Banjo Kazooie franchise, and actually, you know, doing something right with it, that would be wonderful.

Rare isn't what it used to be, buying them back would not be worth it to Nintendo. I rate that idea 1/10.

Buying rare back means they get all of their IPs. Which they can then give to some of their competent subsidiaries. They could fire the rare employees for all I care. I just want the IPs back.

I don't know if any of those ideas would 'put them on top'. They're mostly niche things that hardcore Nintendo fans would want to see. I think the only way they're going to get the highest sales is to stumblw across the next Nintendogs or the next Wii Fit (not Wii Fit U), some new idea that people go nuts for. You can have a console with 3D Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid and all the rest, and hardware sales can still suck.

I would like to see them strike up a partnership with Platinum, but buying game companies is a really dumb move unless you specifically want their IP. The quality of games a dev studio puts out is all down to it's staff, and staff come and go, they can't be bought or owned. It's why I never understood MS buying Rare when most of the talent had already left to form Free Radical.

You lost me at buy Rare back from MS. That is probably the worst idea there for saving Nintendo. If in fact MS was to sell Rare back to Nintendo it probably won't be cheap and it will probably cost Nintendo more than they could ever see on return. Honestly if you to play the old Rare games so badly just buy a N64 and the games you want to play so badly. It would be a much quicker result than waiting for Nintendo to get Rare back.

I would love for Nintendo to get Rockstar to finally make a sequel to Bully. It was on Wii so it's not a stretch and doesn't seem like they're getting GTA V.

Sorry, about you're ideas. I'm not that big a fan of either Star Fox or F-Zero. Frankly, I'm surprised so many people are. I'm not against the games being made but I think it would just be a fan pleaser not a system seller. I think the relations with Platinum and Sega are already very strong. Between the two of them we're getting five exclusives. As for Rare...meh. Nintendo owns Donkey Kong and the other IPs have been tainted by Rare's MS days. Finally, on the price drop I still want to know the price of the competitors' systems.. the Wii U may be very reasonable by comparison which is all the casual consumer needs.

Platinum is worth so much to buy. Nintendo shouldn't buy them.
Sega would work well with the Wii U. They understand the system, and there are plenty of Sega fans on the Wii U.
I don't think Capcom will agree on the partnership. Megaman is an IP that could expire due to Capcom's confusion of what to do with the man.

Nintendo doesn't want to abuse their advertising at the moment, because there is little to advertise. I feel like Nintendo will make a commercial based on their fall line up. Similar to one they did on the 3DS, that helped them make sales.
A gamer can dream...
I can see spinoffs happening, but I can only imagine they outrage Sony gamers will say if any Kingdom Hearts title goes on Wi U. Especially if it was KH3.
The gamepad is a pricy thing. What they need to do, is make an alternate, cheaper Gamepad, and reduce the price. Or, make some good bundles.

Maybe not a main series Final Fantasy, and we'd be lucky if we ever saw a new main series game on a Nintendo console to begin with. But something like Crystal Chronicles or Chocobo Dungeon would work well. Sure they're not big as household names, but they could really use the gamepad a lot better. Plus, those were both Wii games, so their audience would still be in the same place. I doubt Square Enix would give up on the WiiU, but I also don't see any exclusivity deals happening.

I think the partnership with Capcom could work, but instead of Mega Man, Nintendo should target Monster Hunter. Although that doesn't seem terribly likely anymore. Resident Evil was pretty successful back in the day, but I'm not sure how well it would work now since there's no game in the making (besides Revelations, but that used to be a Nintendo exclusive anyway).

ATM, keeping strong ties with Ubisoft, Sega and strengthening Activision support should be priority. And that would mean putting those games forward in Nintendo Directs and on the eShop, instead of just their own games. I do wonder how this whole indie-culture thing will work with the WiiU though - if the console manages to commandeer indie support, then we might see a bit of an updraft in the future.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

So you're suggesting that they spend millions upon millions of dollars? You are nuts

F-Zero and Star Fox are fan pleasers, not system sellers, as tsm7 already said.
I really doubt the SEGA, CAPCOM and Square Enix exclusives would help much.
About Platinum...yeah, Nintendo SHOULD buy them. They won't, though...

Along with deep cuts in the price of their bundles...

The chance the Sqaure Enix one happening. KH3 could be PS exclusive and if FF went exclusive it would be a PS exclusive too, I doubt it would be anything but multiplat though, possibly skipping Wii U.

Considering how much Kingdom Hearts DDD sold on the 3DS, the chances of the third one being a PS exclusively are practically none.
But yeah, it's not being a Wii U exclusive anytime soon (unless Nintendo strikes some kind of deal...)

Buying back Rare would also clear up the DK Country confusion, so Nintendo could release all of those fantastic games on Virtual Console. I'm not saying it's a good idea, I'm just saying... I want the DK Country games on Wii U virtual console (I know they were released on the Wii for a while but I missed them).
